What exactly happens with the body of dead gods in the astral plane?

Are they just like massive stones or an paralyzed/ petrified image of their former self? Are there hints in adventures, literature oder sourcebooks of how exactly they look like?

Did anyone made an adventure which involved a dead body of gods or even a resurrection?

Yes, I have one currently in the works. A epic game where a bit of a prophecy is kept. On this floating corpse there is a Githyanki monk who's spent the majority of his life in exile upon the corpse. He is also fairly insane due to his time alone there.

I recently came upon a 2nd Edition Planescape Setting book called On Hallowed Ground that has information about dead gods and what happens with their bodies, in addition to other interesting info about the gods. If you can find a copy I suggsest reading it. Very interesting read. :)

The 2e book 'Guide to the Astral Plane' has a section devoted to the dead gods of the Astral, and so does 'On Hallowed Ground'. An old issue of Dragon magazine (#240 I think) also had an article on the topic.

They're rocky islands that usually, but not always, have a loose resemblance to how the deity appeared in life. These godisles aren't stable chunks of rock however, and they'll sporadically manifest physical incarnations of their memories, bits of their portfolios, etc before slipping back into quiescence.

Gods can't die in my campaign so I guess it is totally up to the individual DM to decide.

A great book that includes this is "Finder's Bane" by Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb (book 15 of The Harpers). It's mostly set in the Realms, but crosses into Sigil on the way to the Astral Plane. Got some cool hooks in it too. I highly recommend!

I always thought it would be nice to visit places with such exotic names as 'Moander's Brow' or 'Leira's Navel'.

Karsus' Butt for my part. I hope they have ansichtcards there.
