| Koesherbacon08-21-06, 12:55 AM | I know I'm starting a few threads here, and they probably could have both been the same thread with multiple questions but bare with me. Since my DM wanted to go back to playing a character, I'm taking over as the DM for my group. I've pretty much decided to have all the players design new level 3 characters so they can develop under my DMing but am wondering what is the average equipment characters at level 3 would own? What non-magical weapons and armor would be common? Any magical items? If so what are good examples? Thanks! |
| Deekin08-21-06, 01:11 AM | 2700 GP worth of gear. |
| DwarvinJedi08-21-06, 01:19 AM | 2700 GP worth of gear. with no more than 1/2 spent on any single item |
| Bulletproof_Condom08-21-06, 01:22 AM | 3rd-level character wealth is 2,700 gp (Dungeon Master's Guide p. 135). That would get you a masterwork weapon, masterwork full plate, two or three 1st-level potions, and a set of standard adventuring gear (backpack, bedroll, winter blanket, crowbar, rope, etc.). A spellcaster might have a 1st-level wand or two and maybe some scrolls, in addition to standard adventuring gear. Two characters in the group would most likely have everburning torches by this point, unless everyone has one. with no more than 1/2 spent on any single item That's an optional rule, mostly for high or epic level characters. |

Should have checked the DMG to begin with, but finding stuff in there can be like finding one particular needle in a stack of very similar needles. I'll pass this along to my group, making sure they know they can have some of the best armor and weapons as well as a few magical items and a few other tricks of the trade. |
