| WeeWillyWinky06-26-05, 11:37 PM | How long does it usually take for your D&D session to get underway? How long till ever body arrives and the games session begins? Thanks to all those who reply. |
| Flakster06-26-05, 11:43 PM | With my group it can take a while. We are all 16-17 and work, so we sometimes have to wait for people to get off work, but generally as soon as everyone is there we get down the business. |
| Hav0k06-27-05, 12:25 AM | We are all 14 - 18... Usually we set games to start at a certain time, making sure ahead of time that it does not conflict with other schedules. Since the books are owned by seperate people, we level up our characters the meeting AFTER the adventures that our characters leveled up. Usually, after doing all this, the game starts about a half hour after everyone arrives :D |
| Board_Rider06-27-05, 12:34 AM | Well my group age ranges from 23-30. Our schedule is constant, Saturdays every week, but it takes a good hour to begin. |
| Rumple_Cragstan06-27-05, 12:55 AM | our group's ages vary from 16-20, and there is a strange phenomena... no matter when the players arrive, we never start before 9. If everyone arrives at noon, we'll goof off and nobody is serious. But, without looking at a clock, everyone seems to get into the mood for game about 9PM. If everyone gets to session after 9, everything just falls into place really fast. |
| Phrennzy06-27-05, 01:11 AM | We're 25-35. 5-5:30PM everyone shows up on Weds nights. About 6-630 we are goin, finishin by 10pm. Growing up sucks. |
| Illion the Red06-27-05, 08:46 AM | Guess I'm in the old fogey group...we're mostly 30+ and we start within 5-10 minutes of the scheduled time. Being only able to get together once or twice a month, there's not much time to fool around. |
| The nameles one06-27-05, 09:43 AM | Were 17-21, and it usually takes 30 minutes to get started. We live relatively close to each other, so it takes around 10 minutes to everybody to arrive, we start around 12:30 and quit around 21:00, keeping a break every 2 hours or so. We try to get a game up once a week, but usually it's 2 times in a month. |
| Temmogen06-27-05, 09:51 AM | My group is all 30+ as well. Our scheduled time is 7pm fridays, and we are usually underway by 8pm. :D |
| was_fired06-27-05, 09:58 AM | Normally it takes my groups twenty minutes to an hour to get started. |
| High Octane06-27-05, 10:36 AM | Depends on the group, but each seem to take around an hour for different reasons. My friday group, because the DM always plays a movie or show beforehand. Maybe its for inspiration, I don't know. Plus we then order food, which takes 4 times as long as it should because 2 of the members keep arguing over who should order it. Its like watching kids play Hot Potato. I would do the ordering, but Im usually not getting any food (eat before I go there). My other group..... lets just say I blame Dave Chapelle. |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast06-27-05, 11:02 AM | To get everyone ready and to wait for late arrivals, it typically takes my group about 30 minutes. |
| J Milburn06-27-05, 11:20 AM | I suppose i am the baby group then. We are all 14, and we play from 1-6 at the weekend as often as possible. Time varies from a minuite of the last person arriving to half an hour after. Genjerally we are settled and gaming strong by half one. |
| Harold DeVor06-27-05, 11:56 AM | We arrange to start at 7 and people normally arrive 6:30 - 7:30 at the latest due to vageries of traffic, baby sitters and the like. We start as soon as everyone is there. |
| Seeker9506-27-05, 12:07 PM | My current group is age 27 to 36. Like Phrenzy, we play every Wednesday. Arrive between 6:15 and 6:30. Start playing by 6:45. Finish at 10:30. |
| mrshupizdumaterinu06-27-05, 12:25 PM | 2 hours counting since the first person enters through my doors. |
| tennesseefats06-27-05, 12:33 PM | Well, it depends on the size of the group. We have a 7-8 player group that takes well over an hour past the start time to get going. There are two players we tell "Uh, 12:30" knowing they'll be there at 1pm...which is the 'start time' everyone else is given. As for our four player session, it takes 15 min (or one smoke break)... I don't know why you ask, but I would assume that you or someone else feels the wait is too long...it shouldn't be. If you went to see a movie and everyone showed up 5 minutes prior to start; you wouldn't see the beginning of many movies. Why should your games be any different? As always, just MHO. |
