Each of these have a -5 penalty on the attack roll, which is why the numbers are as they are. These additional attacks are capped at 3 additional attacks, so you can't get more than 4 regular attacks during a full-attack action, regardless of Base Attack Bonus. The first additional attack is gained at BAB +6 (PHB writes this +6/+1). The second additional attack is gained at BAB +11 (+11/+6/+1). And the third and final additional attack is gained at BAB +16 (+16/+11/+6/+1). |
| kelvinaw27312-27-06, 03:19 PM | With two important exceptions - a standard character will never get more than four attacks even at epic levels, and the Monk's Flurry of Blows power allows for up to five attacks, with the first three not decreasing in BAB. |
| Millennium12-27-06, 03:42 PM | Every time your BAB hits a number divisible by 5, the next time it goes up you will get another attack per round. This new attack uses an attack bonus 5 lower than the previous attack. So when your BAB hits +5, then the next time it goes up you'll get +6/+1. When it hits +10/+5, the next time it goes up you'll get +11/+6/+1. The highest BAB you can get comes about if you take all 20 levels in full-BAB classes; for example a 20th-level fighter would havea BAB of of +20/+15/+10/+5. Your BAB no longer increases after you reach Level 20. After this, you get a +1 epic bonus to your attacks at every odd-numbered level. This counts as though it were part of your BAB for just about everything, but you never get more attacks because of it. For this reason, a 21st-level fighter has a "modified BAB" of +21/+16/+11/+6, not +21/+16/+11/+6/+1. |
| Raymond_Luxury_Yacht12-27-06, 04:26 PM | As an addendum to Millennium's post: If, for some reason, you end up with a BAB of +21 or more (only attainable with racial hit dice), you still do not get any more than four iterative attacks. |
