| Voila!05-13-05, 01:16 AM | I was wondering. Rather than have something abstract like simply saying, "My bard sings inspire competence, everyone gets +1 attack and damage," why not figure out actual songs? Any ideas for music I could play while our party's bard-type character sings, just to emphasize feel? If possible, I wouldn't mind some suggestions for the less traditional bardic music abilities of various prestige classes. These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head: Virtuoso (Complete Adventurer, Song and Silence) Seeker of the Song (Complete Arcane) War Chanter (Complete Warrior) Sublime Chord (Complete Arcane) Dragonsong Lyrist (Draconomicon) Gnome Bard Substitution Levels (Races of Stone) Stormsinger (Frostburn) Dawncaller (Races of Stone) |

Off course I was the bard  I was the most fun character I ever played. I made rymes and lymericks for my spells (every spell) and I made a songbook for bardic music. I took existing songs and made new dnd-style texts for them. I used a lot of punk and rock songs (Ramones, **** Sparrer, ac/dc), but also a lot of classics (eye of the tiger, ...). It's amazing how easy you can make a song into a dnd-song. |

I just searched for some songs (mostly classic arias) which I put into the playlist when my bard starts chanting. |

| Ottergame05-14-05, 08:38 PM | I love playing bards, but I suck at coming up with music. If I could do it, I would do it as a job. Unless you make the fighter players actually get up and swing weapons to show what they are doing in game, you shouldn't force bards to come up with stories/lyrics/poems. |
| Voila!05-16-05, 05:25 PM | I'm not forcing them, I'm coming up with it on my own. Just for the hell of it, and to make the game a bit more fun. Though not everything I come up with people seem to enjoy...(1 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=6127563#post6127563))(2 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=6122573#post6122573)). |

| wereooze05-30-05, 09:32 PM | I like to keep a set of Quaker Oatmeal tubs around incase a character needs to beat-out a rythem section. Also a plastic whistle from a Video-game arcade, and a small guitar with 2 remaining strings. I know some people who have gone so far as to buy regular instruments to use 9check your local pawnshop). |

| J Milburn05-31-05, 10:19 AM | SInging bards are not always the best. I like the idea of one with a short metal stick, with gems at either end that glint, spun around to fascinate. This can also be used as a light mace, and was inspired from the circus and a song from before i was born. Dancing, Stoprytelling and miming bards are also interesting! (Allowing silent spell for the most enthusiastic mimes) |
