Base hit points? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-07-06, 12:08 PM So I've been playing around with these character builds of a Psychic Warrior and On this one spreadsheet I found It has two fields a Hit Die and a Base Hit Points.

For some stupid reason I can't remember what the difference is. I'm assuming that the Hit Die refers to the die you roll to get your hp, but what is the base? Is it effectively your Con bonus (plus anything else that increases your HP over the hit die?

is that correct or am I just plain lost?

03-07-06, 02:10 PM I believe Base Hit Points is the equvilent to unadulterated averages of dice rolls.

So if the average of a d10 is 5.5, the Base Hit Point would be 6 (rounded up). Before any Con penalties/bonuses take effect.

As for base HP, I would guess that it's your actual HP. This would be modified by damage, temporary HP, con drains or bonuses (from poison or rage, for example) and these would make up your current HP.
