Could someone tell me what Prestige Class comes closest to the Battleragers class from the Drizzt Do'Urden novels?

(I know there is a battlerager prestige class but it doesn't come close)

A Battlerager:

A Dwarf in full-plate armor covert with wicked points.
The common way to attack is to jump onto an enemy, grapple him, and start shaking wildly leaving only a gore bloody mess in your wake. :evillaugh

Battlerager? (Oh, you know that one.)

Razored Armour.

Improved Grapple.

Check out Reaping Mauler, Complete Warrior.

I recall that there was a 2nd Ed kit of the same name in the Complete book of Dwarves that seemed to behave more like a 3rd Ed Barbarian.

But then you mention the armour spikes and that sourcebook had them in as well.

Perhaps you could track it down online or find details of the kit?

What exactly, is wrong with the Battlerager prestige class as presented in Races of Faerun?

All hail the Gutbusters.
The only group of fighters that will make you think, "Poor Orc".

Well it is not the prestige class i look for, the battlerager in races of fearun is not a grappeling character who does damage with his amour but (like mentioned) an 'Axe Idiot'

Adapt the 2nd edition Berserker. Well, update it rather.

Barbarians would be closest with the rage. Deck one out in a spiked leather shirt, pointy boots, go all custom. More to the point, have fun. If you're not the DM, check with him/her, and see what tweaks they would suggest to fit it in their game/campaign.

But to get closest, go to advanced 2nd ed and find the Berserker. I think the Fighter Kit has it.

Barbarian. Improved Grapple and Armor Spikes. Mithral Full Plate or Mithral Breastplate.

Reaping Mauler sounds like it kind of fits what you're going for. None of their abilities really sound like they fit this though.

Spiked Mithril Full Plate on a Barbarian might be the way to go.

In the novels, as far as I can tell, the Gutbusters ( Battleragers) are just grapple fighters in spiked fullplate. The do not rage, but drink Gutbuster( Potion of Rage). And they are completely insane.

Weapon Specialization (armor spikes) would be good.

I don't remember the gutbuster being a potion of anything. It was just some really nasty booze they drank to get syced for battle. The effect was alchemical if anything.

I've always considered a battlerager to be a specific Barbarian build. Improved grapple, spiked full plate, judicious use of rage. Simple as that.

It's also a general antidote, apparently. Remember, the Companions shared it when Entreri and the Drow came to MH. Also, Bidderdoo had some, IIRC...

Ethanol kills the germs, obviously. That's why Southern Comfort is good for colds :P

Yeah, but unless you're using SAN from Unearthed Arcana (which doesn't really fit anyway), there aren't any mechanics for that. Crazy is a roleplaying thing.

When in doubt and you can't find a stat...just roleplay it. I believe the beverage was made of fine mix of goat milk or some such. Remember the training included running into a one way door..... great stuff.

Hello,

As a Game Ordinence Director (GOD), I would suggest that you limit who can and cannot use that class. It is a munchkin's wet dream. A class almost built to slaughter random NPCs, break laws, and not require role playing. While I am not saying that no one should play them. I feel that the DM may need to put his foot down and say no to this class in certain situations. I also find them quite interesting, just a little 'stupid'.

Signed,

Sure the player can use them to slaughter a random NPC. So can a fighter, or a wizard, or a rogue, or a bard, or a cleric, etc. That's nothing new to players. They can break laws, but if you're a decent DM then you have them face the consequences. No role playing? Again, you're not making much sense as this class doesn't make it any more or less difficult to role play your character than any normal character.
