| Jobble07-19-06, 05:06 AM | I'm looking for some advice... I'm going to be starting a game up again after a long absence and want to know what I should get. I do have the 3ED PHB, DMG, MM. My players have been away for a long time as well. Is the online supplement enough or do you feel its a good idea to get the updated 3.5 set? I'm already planning on going through the "Red Hand of Doom" module and would like any suggestions of what to run up until 5th level? It looks like there are a couple of good low level modules coming out with the updated design but they are going to be a little too late. Thanks in advance. |
| Festivus07-19-06, 02:03 PM | I was away for a long time too. I have both 3.0 and 3.5 edition books. I started with the 3.0 books, but there is something to be said for not having to look in multiple places for info, so I bought the 3.5 books. As for RHoD run ups, I started off my group in "A Dark and Stormy Knight" as a way to introduce the characters. I set the tor west of Derlusk in the border kingdoms. Within the forest I have a couple adventures set to run: 1. Siege of the Spider Eaters from Dungeon 137 2. Thieves in the Forest from Penumbra 3. Unfamiliar Territory from Dungeon 119 4. Some sort of overland adventure to move the action down to the right area of the forgotten realms. I am probably going to have to write this one myself. I have an idea for a "praire schooner" type adventure that will take the group across the vast grasslands of the shaar... only the schooner will be a 70 foot long sailing ship on wheels, called the "Grass Dancer III". Dragon 345 has ideas for travelling vessels I plan to use a bit of information from. |
