| ripleygamer01-24-08, 10:28 AM | I am a female GM, and I haven't seen many of those. My long-time boyfriend and I play D&D more than any other game, and we are very dedicated to promotion of the game. On Game Day this year (Nov 3, 2007), my boyfriend asked me to marry him! This was the most awesome thing that could have happened. Game Day will always be a special day, but now it's even better. oh, and I said YES!!! of course. I thought this information would be good to share with the gaming community. Happy Gaming!!! |
| key01-24-08, 10:53 AM | Congratulations. Your bf is a lucky guy. |
| Seeker9501-24-08, 11:04 AM | Are you taking any counter offers? (My wife does not and will not play.) :D |
| Caffeine_Genasi01-24-08, 11:21 AM | Congratulations! From one gamer wife to another (soon to be), I know this can be a great life! Caffeine_Genasi |
| Centor01-24-08, 12:32 PM | CONGRATS!! my Fiancé and I also play and we are getting married in June. Hope ya'll keep playing and have a fun and happy life together. |
| McPoyo01-24-08, 01:37 PM | Wishing you a long and happy marriage devoid of natural 1's. Do you have a sister? :P |
| Fitz1001901-24-08, 01:59 PM | Are you taking any counter offers? (My wife does not and will not play.) :D I think you mean 'counter proposals.' Heh. |
| Grod_The_Giant01-24-08, 02:04 PM |   congradulations! |
| Ariakus01-24-08, 02:11 PM | Congrat's to both of you, you are both lucky that you both enjoy D&D. |
| 1 ton ghost01-24-08, 02:44 PM | ah, geek love. nice. my best wishes for the happy couple. for what it's worth, i've found gamer couples tend to have a better marital track record than alot of those that do not game, IMO curious. that is, national (american) avg is like over 50%, right? never knew a divorced gamer couple since '83 (when i started gaming). of my ex's (sitll a bachelor ;) ), the 3 that gamed were exceptional vs. the remaining, though they all get special places in my heart and bla bla bla. the gamer girls were better cooks, better lovers, more domestic as a whole (in a good way, all were career girls) more worldly, more attractive, and more socially ecclectic. coincidental? possibly, but i like to be optimisstic here. anyway, best of luck for you and your man. this should spawn an interesting honey moon for you w/, stop me if i'm out of line, all manner of role-playing... enjoy, you've earned it. |
| Shiftkitty01-24-08, 03:12 PM | When you said 'yes', you should have added that it still won't get him any extra bonuses for his character. Congratulations! I'm a DM (femme) who married the party's wizard almost five years ago. (What's that make us, a Level 5 married couple?) It's been a wonderful life so far. May you (and Centor) enjoy the same! |

| Seeker9501-24-08, 03:42 PM | (What's that make us, a Level 5 married couple?)Depends on how many challenges you have overcome. No challenge = no experience. No experience = no level gain. |

We are very excited too! BTW sorry didn’t mean to step on your announcement. Also I agree with 1 Ton Ghost, I think that gaming relationships do make a stronger relationship, hopefully marriage. Of course, my fiancé sometimes is more than frustrated with me after a gaming session, but that’s only cause I'm the DM. LOL Thanks! We are very excited too! BTW sorry didnt mean to step on your announcment. Also I agree with 1 Ton Ghost, I think that gaming relationships do make a stronger relationship, hopfully marrage. | Shiftkitty01-25-08, 11:32 AM | Depends on how many challenges you have overcome. No challenge = no experience. No experience = no level gain. Okay, you evil booger!:D We have had our share of challenges. The usual ones that comes with two individuals slowly adapting to each other's ways and others unique to our situation and plans. I see what you're saying, though. We had the benefit of 15 years of friendship before getting married, and it had it's highs and lows as well. Does that count for anything?;) (Egad, the Dungeons and Dragons Guide for Married Couples! Don't give WotC any ideas!) |
| McPoyo01-25-08, 11:39 AM | I dunno, I think living with a potential Dragon is always a challenge :P (hides from the Stereotype police) |
| Sarella Starshine01-25-08, 06:04 PM | <--yet another one of those female married gamers. though, hubby and I did not meet through D&D. We met through a MMO. He even proposed to me online. However, we play D&D together. (right now, we moved and need a new group to play with us as our kids are still a little too young to start (they can't talk yet).) |
| Bruunwald01-25-08, 07:46 PM | Congratulations! It's a cliche, but it's true: the family that plays together, stays together. There's nothing quite so sweet as sharing your biggest hobbies with your best friend, except when that best friend is a spouse. Having something to do together that is creative, fun and challenging is a real bonus to any relationship. My wife plays in all my gaming groups, and now our little boy has begun to as well. It's nice to have somebody to play test all your insane ideas with. Here's to all of you soon-to-be-marrieds in the thread. |
| Etarnon01-27-08, 02:19 AM | Hey, that's cool. My wife isn't a gamer, but she's gamer-friendly. |
