I'm looking for any pre-3rd edition book (or any issue of Dragon Magazine up to the present) that either has a significant entry on orcs or covers orcs exclusively. I want information beyond stats or how many hit dice each member of an orc hunting party has. I'm looking for details about culture and customs. I've read most of the material written about their religion such as 1st ed. Deities and Demigods, Monstery Mythology, On Hallowed Ground, and Dragon Issue 62. I've also had a friend clue me in to the "The Orcs of Thar" from the Mystara Campaign setting for culture. Any further books or mag issues on orc culture (even if its campaign specific although I'd prefer not) would be greatly appreciated.

well, I don't think there is any books dedictated to orcs in my husband's collection (and he has darn near everything from 1st-2nd ed).

though...an interesting book for a different take on orcish culture is the ECS (ebborn campaign setting). There the orcs had a massive ancient culture that was nearly destroyed. Even in present time (for the setting) orcs in ebborn are not your tribal savage brutes, but have culture and heratige and along with goblins and goblinoids, they acctually rule a fully recognized nation.

Sounds a lot like the orcs in Mystara. By any chance does your husbands' collection contain any books in which orcs have at least a section of text devoted to them that details things other than stats?

Hi, with Dragon Magazine references I'm even interested in post 3e. It's only the 3e books that I've completely read through. If you know of any other articles in more recent issues of Dragon, please let me know.

Thanks!

Orcs of Thar (GAZ10?). Not quite a serious take, but if you want the low-down on orcs and other goblinoids/evil humanoids, this is pretty much the only "sourcebook" I can think of.

I recall an adventure called "The Silver Key" which required the PCs get polymorphed into Orcs so they could perform a recovery mission into an orc populated city.

There's no question. Fury in the Wastelands (http://www.kenzerco.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_28_44&products_id=171) is THE book about orcs (it's officially licensed 3.0 D&D, but there's MUCH more flavor text than there are rules).
