| Emir06-23-04, 06:56 AM | First, let me introduce you with the situation: My DM is on a rampage, at least since we got Faerun :) While we played Greyhawk, his kills-per-session was 0.1. Now, when we started Faerun, the kills-per-session is 2.25! Yummie, he says. :) (Now I see why he wanted to play Faerun so much ;) ) Now... This is how it started (we have three party members): First session, we had a happy party (lvl 1) . We were walking down the forest and my DM AKA The Butcher had his random encounter table and he rolled 8 Gnolls + 1 Gnoll Leader...And well, the Cleric was moving at 20 feet, while we moving at 30 feet, and he didn't want to leave the Cleric alone, so the Gnolls just slaughtered us... Second lovely adventure, we were lvl 2. Now, after helping the village kill off some monsters, the Cleric of Bane, who was posing as Cleric of Tyr, invited to his newly build temple, claming that he discovered using Divinations who was behind the monster attack. So, we believed him and when he entered he raised his hand and some hidden Rogues (two, to be exact) sneak attacked us and generally, after a long battle, we got slaughtered, again :) Third, the current adventured, we started playing with lvl 3 characters. Lovely...Well, we are playing a official Wizards adventure...And...well...We tried to cross the rope bridge in Forge of Fury (please don't give me any hints with the adventure, we're still playing it) and the Cleric got a natural 1. Then, he rolled again, and he got another natural 1, so there goes our Cleric, falling or flying, call it as you will, 200 feet lower. The good thing was that he took off his Full Plate +1 before and gave it to us to hold on to, so that he doesn't have the armor check penalty to the Balance, so at least we got some money out of him...(note that we were ON the rope bridge with him). Now, since he was down, and the other side of the bridge was cut down, we just came back home, at least we tried :smirk: On our way home, I chose to hold on to the Cleric's Full Plate, so that cut down our movement to 15 feet, since I'm playing a Halfling Sorcerer, and the Barbarian didn't want to carry it, because he was a *****...And, well, our Butcher rolls the random encounter table...And he end up getting 10 Kobolds + 1 Kobold Sorcerer. We thought that it wasn't a problem, and that we would get some XP fast...But then, it was the Kobold Sorcerer's initiative, and he casts Sleep...And there goes our Raging Barbarian, bye bye. And then, what do you know, a Halfling Sorcerer with a Full Plate in his backback had to battle 11 Kobolds! Though I was lucky. Only one Kobold had a better iniciative then me. He didn't attack me, he Coup da Graced the Barbarian (the Butcher strikes again). Well, luckly, I had a Wand of Invisibility and I ran off you know. So, the only party member alive is me, so I'm kind of the party leader now. In town, I raised a memorial for the two dead PCs (I was thinking of making one for me too...just thinking in advance :P )...Now the other PCs made their new characters...A Paladin and a Rogue...Well, so this doesn't go too far, the Rogue, who was played by the same player as the Cleric, fell of the rope bridge, again, having the same amount of luck as last time...Now, it's just me and the Paladin. Well, in town, we meet a Elf Cleric who is played by the same person that played the Rogue and Cleric, the rope-bridge guy...And that's where we ended the session. We're going to continue in a matter of moments. Just a interesting fact about the guy who played the Cleric and Rogue...Today, he has a surgery  Let hope he doesn't have the same amount of luck as his characters during the sessions...I hope I'll see him alive, though my Butcher (the DM) probably going to kill him too, but in real life this time :P ...Well, some people don't know when to stop :P Now, people, the living chracters are: -Halfling Sorcerer - loves to cast Reduce Person (me) -Human Paladin - has Dreadful Wrath (yummie) -Elf Cleric - the "very lucky" guy Who is going to die next? What do you think? Let's see some bets here...I bet on the Paladin :) PS - This is not a rant |
| Guttercrawl06-23-04, 07:42 AM | First off ----- I wish you & yours alot of luck in your adventures & loved the story so far. My bet goes to the paladin < plops down a copper piece > The bridge guy is due a lucky day. |
| Edd1e06-23-04, 08:35 AM | <Casts divination, finds out that the sorcerer will roll a 1 against burning hands:mage: and will lose 18 hp in one round, then bets 890 gp on sorcerer's demise:smirk:> |

| Emir06-23-04, 01:56 PM | We played another session :) We didn't go far threw the adventure. We killed some monsters in the random encounter table (Trogodytes, not sure how its spelled) and well, we searched the part were the rope bridge was, and we found a hidden door  We went throw, some Orcs were there, but we killed them quickly. We went further, well what do you know? More orcs which we slaugter in a few rounds. Now we encounter a trap...It was a stone statue of a Dwarf and it let out gas went we stepped in front of it, and that gas dropped out Strength. And then, after that, we have one Ogre, one wolf, and three Orcs, which we kill barely, since the only guy standing was the Paladin. He had 3 HP, while I, the Sorcerer had -6 HP, and the Cleric had -9 HP...And we surely wouldn't pass the encounter if I didn't hit the Ogre twice with my Wand of Scorching Ray. After healing, we go forward. We encounter some Stirges, which are really over-powered for CR 1/2. I have no idea why, but those freakin' Stirges aren't normal. First, they almost always hit and then drain d4 Constitucion, and they have more than 7 HP, and when we encounter 5 of them, we have our Constitucions below 5, surely, plus we get little XP. Anyway, after those Stirges, more come! This time in a group in three. Another thing, they have great Will saves, as I barely got to get some down with Color Spray. Well, let's say that goes well, and we heal the HP loss and the Constitucion lossm and we go even further. Now we find the room with two Trogodytes (I think that's how you spell it) and one Brown Bear. Now comes the good part...were you can see who was right with the bet thingy: The Trogotytes didn't do much damage, but the Brown Bear...I got to Scorching Ray him twice, and with good rolls, I got great damage, and he got little HP left, but in the meantime the Paladin gets grappled...And well, what do you know? The Paladin gets killed :) After that, my Magic Missiles finished the Brown Bear off. So, it seems I won the bet :) Actually, me and Guttercrawl won the bet. The Paladin died. Well, our current graveyard (in this adventure) is that the other two players have died twice, while I haven't died even once. Wonder whens my turn... The player Paladin made a new character, Fighter 2/Barbarian 2, since we're level 4 now, though I (Sorcerer) need about 1000 XP to be level 5. Anyway, I'm still taking new bets...The characters are: -Halfling Sorcerer -Elf Cleric -Human Fighter 2/Barbarian 2 Now, who'll die next? I'm having a feeling that that Cleric's been alive too long (one session), so I place my money on the Cleric :) Oh, and it seems that Edd1e put on a bet of 890 gp on the Sorcerer...Sorry bro, but that didn't happen, so I'll hold on to the money :D |
