TheSecondZombieJesus 03-14-05, 10:14 PM	Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but when a person is reduced to 0 charisma, they become an object. Using this logic, one would assumably be able to use a person or creature with 0 charisma as an impromptu weapon. Following this train of logic, the object would be able to be enchanted just like any other object. Flaming Burst Kobold, anyone? But seriously, is this point valid? Is one really able to enchant a creature with 0 charisma? And what happens when their charisma score returns to normal, by whatever means? Would our friend the Kobold retain his Flaming Burst ability?

JustKim 03-15-05, 12:22 AM	You don't become an object any more than someone with Intelligence under 3 gains the animal type. Objects are just an example of something with 0 Charisma. The wording might suggest it but you don't gain hardness, immunity to critical hits or any of hundreds of spells that don't affect objects when your Charisma drops to 0, you just fall into a coma.

Saihtam 03-15-05, 07:33 AM	Another idea : dominate a kobold (not so hard), make him hold up some sort of sharp object, pour a bucket of soveirgn glue over him, wait until he's dry and use him as a javelin. Or : make him swallow 10 flasks of alchemists fire or something (with flasks or you would lose most parts of your kobold) before you apply the glue. I think this makes a nice flaming burst weapon

JustKim 03-15-05, 04:37 PM	Sometimes a spell will say it can't reduce an ability score below 1, but they all can be reduced to 0 (Never to a non-ability as Constitution is to undead or Intelligence to an object) through ability damage or drain from various other sources like poison or an undead's special attack. When any score is reduced to 0 you're unable to act (3.5 DMG page 289) and effectively out of action for a while, hence the restriction in some spells.
Edymnion 03-15-05, 05:05 PM	No, someone with Cha 0 is catatonic, not an object. They do not become an object until they are dead. And like was said, you'd still need a masterwork corpse before you could craft them into a magical weapon.
thinkhard 03-15-05, 05:53 PM	i'm pretty sure that technically you die when any stat is reduced to 0. Losing cha is like losing the force of your presence, so there for on a more abstract and less-logical level losing your life. Going catatonic would be a status-type effect like being stunned, but is not actually covered anywhere in dungeons and dragons. The only catatonic enducing ability i know if is the one from the Deck of Many Things where you lose your soul n ur body just becomes a vegetable. So when someones catatonic their CHA would effectively be 0, but mechanically i think they still have the same cha score they did before they became catatonic. Also, anyone think that intimidate shouldnt function only on charisma? Maybe there should be alternate stats used in special cases? A minotaur is ugly as hell and has a bad charisma, but he can sure frikken intimidate a person...i mean...he's a minotaur.

If you hit 0 strength, you are no longer capable of moving under your own power until you regain at least 1 point of strength. If you hit 0 dex, you are rigid as a board. Wisdom, Intelligence, or Charisma at 0 means you're unconcious and drooling. But you're still alive for all of those. Unless something else is at play, like wraiths draining strength that specifically says that when you hit 0 str, you raise as a new wraith. Or was it a shadow? Anyway, not important, you only die from 0 Con, everything else just incapacitates you.

My group knows this from personal experience when it happened to our poor cleric of Pelor. :surrender
