I dunno, I assume he means roleplaying?

Be evil, I guess. And none of that silly emo "OMFG I BAKED AN EVIL MUFFIN AND IT HAD TEH EVIL SQUIRREL IN IT WOOT!!" evil garbage, either.

Play the game as though you've known paladinhood your entire life and you're finally feeling free of the shackles of lawful-goodness. Feel liberated by commiting knowingly evil acts. "Five years ago, I wouldn't have even considered stepping on this puppy. This is going to be fun..."

I see a fallen Paladin who is now a Blackguard as indulging in the pleasures he was denied as a Paladin.

Beggar asking for money? Kick him out of the way.
Orphan pleading for food? Have him kill another orphan for fun, then deny him the food.
Drink and womanize your way through tavern after tavern.
Enjoy the fear caused by the hunt.

Stuff like that.

It is possible to be Lawful Evil without being mean.

Stepping on puppies and kicking beggars is just mean.

Now, skinning the puppies for a luxurious new coat is evil. But not mean. The puppies are euthanized and feel no pain.

An instance:

The town is being troubled by ogres who demand 1000gp each month or they will wreck the town.

The paladin goes out and kills the ogres for free.

The blackguard goes out and kills the ogres (and keeps all the loot the ogres have stolen from the people) and then begins charging the town protection money.

He places himself in charge of the town to oversee it's continuing good fortune.

Of course it's cliché. If I had any good ideas for roleplaying a blackguard, I'd play one myself. Besides, this guy wants to play Joe-Blackguard, not Artesithe the Dwarven Blackguard who crusades for evil because the forces of good can't pay for his mother's much-needed sex-change operation and steps on puppies because when he was younger a large dog stepped on his diminutive half-dragon step-brother. No, I'm just giving him a basic idea for his own character.

Sorry, I guess I stepped on your toes there. *sends a gentle breeze to stop the pain*
