What with Fiendish Codex II coming in december, an idea struck me. There is an age of empires game. There is one for mythology (Age of Mythology), and there is one for LOTR (battle for middle earth (one or two).

So I think, It would be cool to make one for the blood war. You could pick demons or devils, draft in your manes and lemures and all that and wage war against tanar'ri or baatezu. You would also be able to switch to a mode where you can be a demon lord/archdevil and mobilize your forces against your enemies (like with Orcus and Graa'zt). You could even make your own demon Lord/archdevil! Thoughts one this idea?

I'd buy it. Go set Blizzard to work on it.

A while back I got the same idea... it would indeed be a cool game.

Sounds like an interesting premise.

A job for Blizzard.

Ah, mortis, stop changing your avatar ;)

anyways, ya that might be pretty cool, but just one prob, there would only be 2 sides, demons and devils. Whereas Age of Empires had nearly a dozen civilizations. This game could work, but they would need to find some way of diversifying

Perhaps bring the Celestial forces into the fray?
It would rock to have an elite team of holy anthropomorphic ferrets for the Guardinals.

Let us not forget the yugoloths, mortal races, and the angelic races could be all available to play and fight one another!

It's nominally just two sides going against one another, the Tanar'ri and Baatezu, but the yugoloths (who set up the whole thing) attempt to play them both against one another, and the other planar races have their own vested interests in the War Eternal even if they don't normally have an active role.

Archons - cannot conceive of a Tanar'ri victory, and would conceivably support the Baatezu if the lawful fiends began to lose

Guardinals - don't want a unified lower planes and so are perfectly fine with letting the fiends slaughter one another. They'll keep it going, taking small scale, almost suicidal action against the fiends.

Eladrin - cannot conceive of a Baatezu victory that would strengthen the power of Law within the multiverse.

Modrons - have a single army in place to fight the Tanar'ri (not necessarily to help the Baatezu, but chaos is antithetical to them).

Slaadi - hate law, generally go around killing and eating things, or mating with them, or switching sides for the hell of it randomly.

Rilmani - never want to the war to end, want it to remain balanced for all time between both sides.

Aasimon/Angels - no role whatsoever in the Blood War. Deities do not take part and have not since very early in the war when the fiends made this a very clear point.

But hells... that's be an awesome strategy game....

Yes, having celestials and yugoloths and all that would help have diversity problems. Thanks for all the input, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this would be cool.

Now the only problem is getting somebody to make this... :thinks:
