I just restarted playing DnD again. I just finished up my first set of missions that I used from a starter box i got awhile ago. This box came with a good sized map that had the rooms on it for those used in the adventures for the started box. It has a whole blank side that allows you to draw up your own map if you wanted. I wanted to know if most of you out there use a board at all or just draw up a small map as you go.
I bought a good deal of miniatures and were using them along with the map. This helped out alot in combat and it was much easier to keep track of who is doing what and where they are. Was just wondering if anyone else out there does this and if not what do you do, besides having a solid imagination and mind to keep track of everything. As i said im new, if this seems stupid bare with me :D

The last major campaign I was in, we used a chess board and random minis.

I actually used a lego guy cause I thought he fit better than any of the minis.

I've saved every Dungeon and Dragon insert since 3e came out.
I use the various poster-sized grids. A lot.
