I wouldn't be surprised to see a sailing/sea supplement come out as part of the environment series that WotC is doing (Frostburn, Sandstorm).

Its release is not too far away.

06-18-05, 04:52 AM Theres loads of third party, including 'boats of the goblin kind', But other than that, the arms and equipment guide, or stormwrack, which looks better than the other two books already released in the enviroments series.

06-19-05, 05:42 AM I actually use a compilation of different sources... though I always stick with the official information (Wotc and TSR). Both PHBs (2nd, and 3rd....3.5 is just redicuolous) havesome decent information. 3rd party sources will help as well... but NOTHING beats alittle historical research

Especially if you're a fan of Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander: Aubrey-Maturin and/or C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower series.

But I'm looking for books on earlier ships and sea adventures before Nelson's Navy.

06-20-05, 06:54 PM seas of blood. i think it was published by mongoose and it may be out of print. still, if you can find it's the most comprehensive resource on the subject. i run a pirate inspired campaign and i use that book more than the monster manual and dmg combined.

It's been replaced by the hardcover Book of the Sea, a volume in the Classic Play series. Check their website.
