I think anything by Malhavoc Press is quite compatible, because it's run by Monte Cook (www.montecook.com), one of the original designers of D&D. He has rather complex campaigns involving his Ptolus setting; our group played the Banewarrens campaign last year and found it a lot of fun (and it took a long time to finish).

07-01-06, 07:59 AM me and my group played a ravenloft setting about 2 years ago and our DM pulled every book...and Film from anywhere why and how he could get ideas from.... lets just say unless your epic level then his version of ravenloft will give you nightmares. we all died after 3 battles before we could make it 10 miles away from a town....i think we made im mad that night for not giving him pizza.....he didnt chip in and help pay for it.

07-01-06, 09:37 AM We use the Pocket series from Green Ronin Publishing - Pocket Arcana, Pocket Divine, Pocket Magica. They conviently compile spells and items from the Core books and the earlier accessories, as well as several popular d20 sourcebooks such as Sword and Sorcery I & II.

07-01-06, 02:49 PM I really just look at the third party stuff, but I did buy the Everquest PnP adventure, Befallen. I almost never use it though. Are there any really good Third party books?

Malhavoc does a great job, as said before.
I've bought myself a Midnight book, for more monsters my players dont know yet, which is fairly decent as well.

Secondly, if one goes to epic levels, Dicefreaks has some good stuff, as does the Immortals Handbook.

07-03-06, 02:04 PM Hmm...interesting suggestions. I'll check them out. Would anyone happen to know if the d20 BESM books are compatible? Their Monstrous Manual has 3rd edition style (I'm refering to the way they're drawn) monsters on the cover. I've only seen the thing online.

07-04-06, 09:53 AM I fell in love with Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary. As they explain in their introduction, having this book makes your other monster books even more useful! You see, it's a book of templates, which sounds lame at first, but they are useful templates that really allow you to create the kind of monster you wanted to create. You can make an old baddie cool again, or mix two monsters together to create a whole new horror! I suggest you check it out.

07-04-06, 10:23 AM Malhavoc FTW! I really like their products, those written by Monte himself and Mike Mearls are great. They are quite a read in themselves, and they tend to publish self-contained books, but they have many original ideas, so even if you don't apply the whole book to your game, you can still get lots of ideas and new crunch and fluff stuff. Even their 3.0 products are quite compatible with 3.5 (other than NPC stats and variant classes of course). I also have the Banewarren campaign book (mega-adventure) and it's a blast to read and to use - very innovative dungeon settings, encounters and puzzles.

Ravenloft is a great setting given new life and is fully compatible with 3.5. The Ravenloft PHB and Denizens of Darkness (monster manual basically) are written for 3.5 rules, but Ravenloft DMG - although 3.5 - is not as good I found. Plus, there are tons of previous editions and current edition supplements for Ravenloft, mucho crunch and fluff to incorporate.
