Since I'm actually working now, I'm getting my first paycheck on Thursday, which, suffice to say is a significant amount of money, when I get it, I'm taking a decend chunk (About $300) and spending part of that on Supplements (I've been playing for about a year, and I've been mooching off my parties books, and my DM's).

I've done some looking and research, and these are the books I'm planning to buy:

1. Arms and Equipment Guide
2. Savage Species (I Love to play Monstorous Races)
3. Players Handbook
4. Defenders of the Faith
5. Sandstorm

With the exception of PHB and Sandstorm, the other three have gotten mixed reviews, so I figured I'd let the forum population have a go at it. Are any of these books not worth buying? Or am I missing one that I desperately should have ($200 limit for all books here)

Some Background information would be that I enjoy playing Clerics and Paladins, I love fooling around with Items and a fair amount of my Campaign (When I DM) is set in Wastelands.

Within the Group we have all of the Complete Series, A DMG, Libris Mortis, Tome and Blood, Expanded Psyonisis (SP?) Handbook, Deities and Demigods, Two MM's, MM3 and a few others.

So, are there any suggestions?

Expanded Psionics Handbook
Book of Exalted Deeds
MMII
Eberron Campaign Setting
Races of Stone
Masters of the Wild.

Definitely the XPH. If you want to add a whole new definition of flavor to your campaign. Psionics is the way to go. BOED explains in excellent detail the good alignments and has some solid Prc's. MMII kicks butt in general. Eberron well is Eberron. one of the best worlds in D&D. ROS is good if you want some insight into Dwarf and gnome life. and Masters of the Wild is the ultimate druid/ranger/barbarian handbook. Savage Species=Uber. Sandstorm is supposed to be really really good. The PHB is a must!!! It has character creation rules, Combat rules, and the like. the AEG is quite good. and pick up the Draconomican if you like dragons. It contains all you'll ever need to know and more.

Are you playing 3.0 or 3.5?

Most of the content in the Builder series (Defenders of the Faith, Tome and Blood, Sword and Fist, Song and Silence, and Masters of the Wild) has been reprinted in the Arms and Equipment Guide and updated in the Complete series. I have all of these books and still find value in the Builder series since some magic items and PrCs haven't been updated as of yet. However, a few magic items in that series are outshined by better items in the Complete series and some prices have changed.

Thanks for all the Replies, I play 3.5 Edition and I now may consider swapping out Defenders of the Faith with Complete Devine, just so I can have a copy to call my own.

Also note that while the Builder books focused on specific classes, the Complete Series does not. The Complete Series instead focuses on "roles." In other words, the content of the Builder books has been redistributed among the Complete books. Obviously, though, the majority of Defenders of the Faith will be found in Complete Divine and the majority of Sword and Fist will be found in Complete Warrior.
