Is Unearthed Arcana any good?
And how good is the Complete Adventurer book?

Unearthed Arcana is a big book of alternate rules. Like, house rules.

I like a lot of the options in the Unearthed Arcana, but you will only be able to use some of the content in any given campaign (as there are multiple combat systems, magic systems, etc...). It can give you a lot of ideas, and is nice if there are things you don't quite like about the current system.

I like the Complete Adventurer a lot. It's a good rogueish book, with 3 new core classes (Ninja, Scout, and Spell Thief), a host of PrCs, and a lot of good feats. If you had to pick one book, I'd choose this over Unearthed Arcana, but if you have the money, I'd recomend both.

Unearthed Arcana is interesting to read, but you won't be using much of it in actual play - large parts of it is also open content.
IMHO, 'Complete Adventurer' is the best installment in the 'Complete'-series. So, if you are playing a skill-based character or are interested in playing one, go for it.
