Blackrazorblade 09-04-04, 04:33 PM	i can't post in the right forum due to the fact i am not 17, i am 15. Anyway, How would an Archduke of Hell, say, Bel. react to another say Ballzebul, saying i ally myself iht you if you take care of soem pesky mortals (PCs). would an archduke agree, be insulted go after the mortals himself (with aid duh) or just have minions go after them (devil or otherwise). Also would killing an archduke on the matierial plane affect there status or would it onlymake them angry, would killing them in Hell kill them for good?? teh PCs are epic btw.
Mirtek 09-04-04, 04:54 PM	If they're summoned, they're just send back to hell. If they came through an gate, with planeshift or another Calling effect, they're truly dead.
gradea 09-04-04, 05:22 PM	would one duke aid another? depends, were talking about lords of hell, they may backstab eachother, or they might just "help" therefore beginning a plan that will eventualy allow them to rule the universe! unless ballzebull is a demon, in which case the devil just makes him into puddy

Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow 09-04-04, 07:43 PM	It really depends on which archdevils we're talking about. Dispater and Mephistopheles are as allied as any two beings in Hell could be. Baalzebul and Belial are also allied, although their alliance is not as strong as that between the Lords of the Second and Eighth. Dispater and Mephisto are "proper" baatezu; Baalzebul and Belial are fallen celestials. None of the remaining archdevils make very dependable allies. Bel is focused on the Blood War and keeping Zariel trapped, Mammon isn't trustworthy, Levistus plots against all the other Lords (including Asmodeus), and the Hag Countess is still consolidating her power in Malbolge.

But I'm sure they would need incentive, and if they do to much back stabbing Mr. Osmodus (agian, spelling is an issue for me) might need to "fire" them. Please note that all puns are intended.

Bel and Mephisto could work as allies, since Bel is a "true" baatezu (ascended pit fiend). On one hand, Mephistopheles won't trust Bel, but Bel's also to busy with maintaining a whole layer and his Blood War duties to treaten the Lord of the Eighth.
Blackrazorblade 09-05-04, 08:44 PM	thanks, now the PCs are TRULEY doomed, they nearley died to a fiendish-half red dragon vampire storm giant (they used harm when it was at 71 HP) ahahahahahaha...sry, i haven't hade a TPK in a while

A vampire must be a humanoid or monstrous humanoid, whilst a fiendish half-red dragon storm giant would be creature type dragon. Not saying you can't (or shouldn't), just saying if one of your players calls you on it they might have a hard time dealing with the "I thought it was cool" justification.

Eh, they're not really "rules". More like "guidelines", No one called me out on my half ogre vampire hexblade last adventure. Of course, they didn't know what the hell it was either. they just knew it was big, had a big heavy poleaxe of fleshgrinding, healed quick, and had a dire wolf as a companion. (Actually familiar, due to the CW improved familiar feat.)
