My friends DMing a Roleplay-centric campaign, and we just had a major battle. All of us were alone, and I was in a temple defending myself, fighting off undead druids and rangers (called walkers) and suddenly a mage that bled water and was generally a freak of power showed up. My 3rd level butt sniped him (I'm an archer powerhouse of a ranger) and ran to hide, continuing to snipe until he turned invisible.

A long story short, I ended up on the opposite side of a cave-in from one of his spells, barely alive, with a stone from the celing having collapsed on my leg, breaking the bone. I managed to hobble out of the temple and find some good druids hired to help the city (a whole caravan) and they patched me up.

The argument is this: The Broken Bone. In this campaign I was RP-hired as a tracker and extra sword hand, mostly to track. I was previously faster thne the others, and the best at tracking, spot, listen, etc., others being a paladin and a Wizard. I also did hit and run tactics, and a lot of tree-sniping, etc. Otherwise I am uncouncious before you can say "Owie mommy, that hurt."

He says I should have to make a con check every week, DC 20 - 2 every week, until I make it, to heal the break, after being fully cared for by druids. I have a con modifier of 0 (he loves his realism, as my 6 in charisma shows.) so it would likely last at least a month and a week or two, that I could hobble at about a third my speed, and be next to useless in all areas invovling outdoor activity. I can barely walk, it's a broken bone.

I argue that if I was in the full care of a bunch of druids, and they healed me, through a couple castings of cure light wounds, they'd of fixed the break. At least it would've helped. And, the Paladins lay on hands should do SOMETHING to help. Also, his casting restoration on it. I know I shouldn't argue with the DM about this, but everywhere i look in the core books, magical healing fixes everything like that, and between restoration and cure wounds, I have every-type imaginable. What do you all think is a fair and just and legal way to do this, barring the "DM is always right" law?

Hey, I think you're right personally. IMC when someone breaks a bone, he/she takes HP damage as usual. I once had someone fall about 60ft and end up breaking some bones. That PC took like 6d6 damage which really wasn't a whole lot of damage. I ruled that the leg was not healed until those HPs had been restored. A couple of cure light wounds potions did the trick and that player was just fine again. So I think if you restore your HPs, then the leg wound should be healed, although it never hurts to give that character a special trait (such as he now hobbles when he walks) but that would just be for role play and character fleshing out purposes. I don't think you should have your speed reduced or other abilities penalized though.

Dude, he has a CON mod of 0. So a 10 or 11 con. Not dead.

sorry, i meant a con mod of 0. And I agree with your comment, except that I think it would need to be a spell poper, as the potion doesn't quite cut it for me, because it couldn't be centered on the leg. My point still remains that between lay on hands, cure light wounds, and lesser restoration I should be righter then rain. Any other comments? I'd love to show fifteen posts to my DM about this ^_^

OICN

But anyway.
I think he is right to say it takes time for the brake to heal.
basic heal spells work with cuts and stuff.

If you want to magicly heal it you need some higher level stuff.
But I say lesser restoration might have done the trick.

I have had a broken arm so I know it takes a LONG time for it to heal ^_^
