Can anyone suggest ideas to improve AC for a fighter on a budget?:b: I would like to be in the mid thirties without using combat expertise. All replies are appreciated.

I think you'd get a better responce on the munchki... er... Character Optimization Boards.

Let's see ...

Armor + dex = 9 (11 if mitheral)
Tower Shield = 4
Total Defence = 4
Magical Vestments cast by a 20th level cleric on both shield and armor = 10

Monks belt can be a major value for AC if you wisdom is 16+

Ploymorph can cange you into some very high AC forms very economically.

Spread out the bonus

Amulet of natural Armor
Shield Enchancement
Armor Enhancement
Weapon Defending
Natural Armor
Deflection
Insight
Luck

I get the feeling I'm forgetting some, but before spending a bunch to get 1 more armor by upgradeing your +4 Amulet to +5 see if you are missing AC bonuses in any of those categories that you can get cheaper.

Don't forget Dodge Feat, Haste, Luck bonuses to AC, being small or smaller, Deflection, Sacred, Divine, Magic, Natural Armor, etc...

I actually saw something on the CO board that a guy had an 80 or so AC using just point buy and a few PrCs for INT, Con, and Str, to boost the AC.
