| MRick7703-03-06, 08:49 AM | I'm not sure If this has to be posted here, but I can't find any other thread. OK that's the point : I found a mistake in the Saint sample from the Book of Exalted Deeds. It isn't mentionned in the last official errata I found. In the Sainthood chapter, page 29 it is said that a character should have at least three exalted feats to become a Saint. But in the Monster Chapter page 184, the sample Saint, a 7th level Paladin has only 2 exalted feats : Gift of grace, and Hands of a healer. OK that's not a big mistake but I was studying that carefully, because I want my new character to become Saint as soon as it reaches level 6 ! ;) I found that the best way is to take the Vow of pauverty soon, to get those free exalted feat... But that's another matter. |

Played in a game with a guy who had one, can honestly say that I had no fun while he was in the game do to the twinkiness of the character. I would not allow that template in my game. Anyways just a forewarning....good luck. |
| Khael03-03-06, 03:42 PM | You want a saint at level 6? Somehow i reckon your DMs going to screw you out of it...and you do sort of deserve it. You've missed a point-you still nedd to do the right deed, which you're DM can stop you at, since he ultimately says if the deed is up, to scratch, and if you're doing the deed solely for sainthood, its not technically a good deed... A little point to remember... (also ignore the sample, the actual template is the important thing.) |
| Ossyrian Ush'Bel03-03-06, 05:15 PM | Also make sure you read the text by the template (a mistake my DM made) they suggest it to be a 2 level adjustment for the template if it is acquired through role play, they suggest (I believe) a 4-5 level adjustment if it comes just tacked onto a character. A big difference if it is awarded through role play than someone making an uber character and throwing the saint template onto it....as my DM discovered to his dismay, which is probably why the BoED is banned from our table. |
| MRick7703-06-06, 05:35 AM | Yes I know that I will have to do that "Extraordinary Sacrifice", and I don't know if my MD will give me that opportunity. That's part of the deal. But I want to be sure that if the opportunity shows up when I'm level 6 or 7, I don't miss the opportunity because I don't have the 3 exalted feat prerequisite. I'm motivated to role-play such a special character because of the perspective to gain that template. But I have no assurance at all, and the DM will have the final word. I've been DMing enough myself to know quite well what is too much to ask a DM. Also if I gain the template, I will be "stuck" during 2 levels because of the ECL. I will need a lot of XP to go to the next level. Therefore I don't think it is overpowered. Anyway the point is that I didn't know the sample characters were not well verified, i've used some of them as a DM, but I didn't verify them... |

It is a perfectly balanced book that can NEVER be abused and is very well written with facts on good and evil that can NEVER be disputed! To argue with the BoED is an affront against D&D and Gygax and all things roleplaying! There is no error understand? NO ERROR!! |

Next thing we're going to read is that BoVD is wrong and unbalanced as well! What is the world coming to? As for the Saint Template, my character became one at 15th level. He was a Wizard who when the way to continue required a sacrifice, he went up to the altar and put the chains around his wrist to be killed so others could live. |
