I like SBG.

All I can remember off the top of my head is that a 20'x20' cottage costs 1000gp.

The prices for a lot of things in the game are retarded.
I have very, very few house-rules... most of them are in regards to such prices.

I once wrote a series called 'Building a better Barony', which listed different rules for creating houses (and d20 finance stuff), but it has long crept into the mists of time. Don't worry though, if someone like me can write this stuff, then surely someone else has.

Until then I can only recommend magical medieval society, and sbg.

One of the reasons I like SBG is because you have to be a millionaire to do anything worthwhile non-magically.

It really helps keep my players from trying to play "SIMS d20", while still giving them the option to do so if they really want to.

Also, if you ignore the prices, it has some interesting building blocks for making quick, painless, original castles/fortresses/etc.

They are quickly covered in the DMG.
