| lordjulius12-04-05, 07:06 AM | A 7th level fighter has a 17 constitution and 70 hit points At 8th level he increases the con score to 18 and rolls a ten for hit points. Is his new hit point total 84 or 91? Does the new Constitution bonus apply to past levels or only to future levels? Thanks for your discussions |
| Rhomphaia12-04-05, 07:14 AM | The Constitution Modifier applies to every hit die a creature or character has, no matter when the hit die or Con mod was gained. It is retroactive. So your answer would be 84 HP at 8th level. |

But you said it applies to every Hit Die, so the total Hit Points would be 91. 70 HP Lvl 7 Con :17 (+3) Lvl Up Rolls 10 + New Con (+4) -> 84 HP Con Modifier from +3 to +4 -> 7 Hp extra for the 7 Hit Dies the character has. -> 91 HP |
