Lord Nat 04-03-04, 04:27 AM	I had an idea for a reality (I use that really loosely) show. You get 4 groups of 4-5 LARPers. But them on a island where you have towns, dungeons, caves, the works. Then have a quest with a prize of say $1 mill. What ever team finishes the quest first wins the money. But here is the good part. When they get there they each get a char randomly picked for them and they have to play that char 24-7 when they are on the island. So if they want to sleep inside for the night they have to head to an inn and RP into getting a room. Ya you will have to have a lot of people to play NPCs, Monsters and crap but that is not so hard. Have the town(s) people dressed in the setting and act like they are people meant to be there. So nothing is out of place and the players are really playing a DnD game. Full use of the rules. each group will have a DM to keep them on the rules and to run battle. The way people lose and have to leave is if they die. So you might have one team hunting the others trying to weaken them so they can't win. Sci-Fi or Tech TV will eat some thing like this up. It's cost a bit to do but I think anyone will want to see something like this. I mean real people tossed into a DnD world and they have to act like it and deal with all kinds of stuff. You can't get more real then that.

I'd almost definitely watch if the players were using real melee weapons and had to actually fight out their battles. And then at the end no one wins because they can't withstand the might of the mechanical dragon and its flamethrowers (See Truckasaurus... Only one night... this Sunday! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!!!).

Thank you. 2. When I said die I mean the char not the person (But the other way might make more people watch ^_^) 3. I was thinking maybe some faked up weapons and ammor you know lighter so they can carry it around and will not really hart anyone too bad. But ya they have to act out the battle. If they want to attack they have to go and do it not just roll some die.

Mister Mayhem 04-03-04, 05:19 AM	Sounds pretty much like the over-plot for Dreampark: The California Voodoo Game By Niven and Barnes. Dreampark (which now appears in three novels - Dreampark, The Barsoom Project, and California Voodoo) is a state of the art amusment park. Amongst the attractions are a couple of large domes that use holograms and VR to augment some very impressive LARPS. The books are made particularly good by the fact that as well as the "over-plot" ie the plot inflicted upon the Player Characters by the Gamesmasters, there is also a meta-plot - something happening in the real world, such as a murder mystery, whose solution is somehow tied into the game. Find 'em and read 'em.

Exceptions include the Littlest Bachelor (or whatever) and The Apprentice. Very few people can relate to LARPers, so much as ridicule them, so I'm guessing the pitch would have to be orgasmic to even get the attention of a producer. Thus, you're just crazt.

I think a lot of people will watch somthing like this. I mean first most RPers will want to see it just it see who it goes. Then you got LARPers and people who hate LARP who will see it just to make fun of it. Then you got the geeks who will eat it up. On Tech TV or Sci-Fi I think it'd do well.
