| Conners_of_Sharptooth02-10-06, 10:08 AM | Me and a couple of people I know are trying to get a guild going for DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online). I didn't get into beta testing but I did pick up the pre-order which gave me a 10 day beta pass. Let me tell you, it is AWSOME. It is the closest you will (probably) ever get to D&D in a computer game. I started this thread to see 1) If anyone else was planning on playing and 2) If so, then might you want to join our guild ? If you are interested, just post something here and I will make sure you get a link to our guild forum. We are still in infancy stages and are still deciding on a name. Help with that will also be appreciated. |

Public areas are the city, a few encounter areas, and taverns. Everything else in instanced. Some like that some don't 3. Solo'ing is not easy at all 4. There are very few outdoor areas at the moment. Nearly all of the quests take place in dungeons/caves. 5. it does have excellent graphics 6. It tries its best to stick to D&D rules, but not all PnP rules can be translated easily or correctly to a real-time combat MMORPG. Case in point, TWF does not work the same as it does in PnP. Any movement while fighting gives you penalties to ac and to hit, unless you hav mobility and spring attack, etc. 7. The interface is a bit clunky, but I would expect that in beta. It will get better as all games do. 8. Rest to recoup hps and spell points is only available at the taverns and at "rest shrines". 9. Armor graphics are nice. You can see the difference between masterwork, enchanted, and regular. 10. The human emote for male dancing is just... wrong. 11. invisibility/sneak will break when you use levers, doors All in all, I enjoyed my time in beta. |
