| Wizard01-30-04, 01:36 AM | The poor steal from the thieves, perhaps? What goes around comes around. |
| Spongly01-30-04, 06:47 AM | Robin Hood style campaign: 1) Establish the players in the "good life". 2) The good life is rudely taken away by a villainous scumbag, the characters are imprisoned to be executed. 3) The characters escape but are obviously outlawed, so they take refuge in the forest. 4) Robbing the rich while plotting the downfall of their enemy. 5) Gathering allies. 6) Striking back at their enemy and hopefully being victorious. Oh, and as for the giving to the poor thing, if your characters are outlaws, they'll probably give to the local poor anyway if they have an ounce of sense - it encourage the local peasants to help and hide them rather than turning them in for the reward! |

Well said, Spongly. |

| Nanohund01-31-04, 02:44 PM | Sounds like a worn out cliché. How about making up a whole new concept? I made my campaign built on stories I stole from operas - there is a giant wealth of ideas in operas. Read the libretto or synopsis of Wagner's Lohengrin and Parsifal, Verdi's Ballo in Maschera, Mozart's The Magic Flute, Richard Strauss' Salome and Electra, etc. Maybe you'll be inspired - I was. |
| Blakdout01-31-04, 03:42 PM | Greetings, Here is an idea that has bounced around in my head for a while. Have you ever seen the movie "A Fistfull of Dollars"? It is a western staring Clint Eastwood. Say your PCs arrive in a setting where there are already two rival power groups who have a stanglehold on the land and don't much care for each other. In a D&D setting like similar to Robin Hood the power groups could perhaps be the Local Authorities (i.e. Sheriff of Notingham) and possibly the local Religious Group. Make both of these groups greedy, cruel and oppressive. Then your adventure group can spend their time robbing them, and playing one against the other to their own benefit. The "Church" could be clerics of an evil deity or just really corrupt preists of the main religion of your world. The "Authorities" could be the typical tyranical king or duke and his cronies. Or could be humanoid usurpers who have taken over and are dominating the country. In the movie Clint pits one group against the other, gets paid by both of them, steals from both of them, rescues a captive maiden, and thenafter one side slaughters the other, he defeats the worst of the bad guys (Ramone Rojo) and his gang in a epic duel. Well, thats my idea. What do ya think? |
| Fritz the cat02-01-04, 12:17 AM | I like it! I've already made up a bunch of other gangs for the PC's to fight with and steal from or possibly partner up with. I'll take all that into thought, Thanks alot. I think I'm done with the main Idea I just startde working on the world. so far it's four islands with docks and boats the areas full of nomads and criminals and stuff. Lot's of markets and stuff Could you guys give me some ideas? :whatsthis |
