| Aloki12-12-06, 10:15 PM | I am getting the three core rulebooks for Christmas, and i am going to start a group. The group will be just starting playing, but i have been playing for a while, just never wanted the books because i always used my cousin's. Might also begetting the Forgotten Realms campagin setting also. So any ideas or campaigns? |

Faerun is a very detailed and rich setting, and many many campaigns are based in it. Wiki is your friend. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgotten_Realms) Also, basing campaigns around other issues can be fun. Like gathering the pieces of the legendary Rod of Seven Parts, or exploring the depths of the underdark (a huge expansive network of caves that stretches deep into the underground of a world). There are also cheap adventure modules (pre made adventures) that can be purchased on ebay. Welcome to DnD, and good gaming! |

And it was just after the 3.0 release, and all my friends were getting into 3.0. I felt so stupid. (In truth, I think we were duped into buying the older edition copies by the store owner- he wanted to get them off his shelves as fast as he could, I'm sure). 2E is chucked full of good material though, even if some of it is outdated. The gem treasure charts and the artifacts sections are two of my favorites. And I enjoy the style of how monsters were described in the MM. Make sure you get the write books though, they are way too expensive to mess up and get the wrong ones. |
