Can a wyrmling-PC "detect" a dragon with human form-NPC? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm about to run an Eberron game session where one of my players is using a wyrmling-PC (created using the rules in Draconomicon).

During the adventure, he will be face-to-face with a Dragon that is using a "human shape".

Could he "sense" its draconic presence?
If so, what should he roll, in order to detect it?
... and what should it be the DC?

are they looking at the adams apple. and hand size.

that is the best way too find out if its a dragon.... or man. whatever. lol.

05-18-07, 06:42 AM Does the dragon have True Seeing? No? Then it'll be just as surprised as anyone else. Although you could give a sense motive check at an absurdly high DC to notice that there's something "off" about this person.

Or maybe a secret roll of Know. Arcana (DC 10+HD of the NPC) to see something off about him.

05-19-07, 02:19 AM I would say yes. While they look human, they probably don't smellhuman. Dragons with their ... my mind let loose the term! No!!!!... The omni-sight thing... can cover smells...so they could recognize them, I would say. Now, the real question is the Wyverling brave enough to speak up with the dragon nearby?

This also means that animals with scent could potentially detect dragons and other unnatually polymorphed creatures, though. So you want to take this approach only if you are willing to accept that.

Really, this is a call of how you want to handle this kind of thing in game. This can be argued either way. This is just how I would rule it in my game.

I'd say that he notices something off, drop some hints and leave it at that.
