| itraylor09-28-06, 02:56 AM | There is one thing I don’t understand about the description of epic items. The ELH says that an item is considered epic if it costs more than 200,000gp. I am working on a sword which limits me to a +10 enhancement bonus. The confusion is lets say I have a +5 scimitar with speed +3, ghost touch +1 and keen +1 on it that makes the weapon 200,000gp already for the +10 enhancement. Now lets say that I want to add a spell like ability to it…just a random 3rd level spell at caster level 5 usable 3 times a day….it would add 16,200gp. Now the weapon would be 216,200gp which by definition would be considered epic. Now does that mean I need the Craft Epic Arms and Armor feat to make this sword or does it just mean that because the weapon is so expensive and unique it is ‘considered’ epic? Thanks for any explanations… |

Note that the +6 to +10 rows apply only to weapons that provide an enhancement bonus of +6 to +10 or weapons with a single special ability whose market price modifier is +6 to +10. Magic weapons with a total effective bonus of +6 to +10 but that have an enhancement bonus of +5 or less and special abilities whose individual market price modifiers are +5 or less use the table for nonepic magic weapons to determine price. So based on that statement I could have a Scimitar with a total enhancement bonus of +11 (Scimitar +5, Speed +3, Keen +1, Ghost Touch +1, Lucky +1) along with a special effect as described above and since no SINGLE enhancement bonus is more than +5 then the sword will still be considered ‘not epic’ or does that where the effective bonus of +6 to +10 statement come into effect? |
