| Count Arioch the 28th01-08-04, 08:41 PM | Yes, except do not adjust the CR one bit. you don't adjust the CR if a human cleric casts sanctified magic, don't adjust the CR of a monster that does so. |
| Jingizu01-10-04, 11:38 PM | That may or may not be true. CR isn't at all equivelent to what is good or bad for a player. A Balor, for instance, is /far/ more powerful as a PC then as a monster. Why? Because with his host of spell-like abilities, many of which are usable at will or many times per day, he could trounce monster after monster, and have many tactical options open to him. As a Monster? Well, that's different. A typical Balor will never get to use more then one or two of those abilities before the PC's tool him into the ground. A Dragon may cast spells as a 20th level mage, but will he? He's better off just casting some buffs, and attacking in melee. But as a PC? That's a whole other animal of options opened. How does this apply here? Your typical 'monster' Archon, who will probably only show up for a few round of combat, isn't really going to suffer 'long term' consequences for his Sacrificial spells. A PC has to deal with those ability score hits all day, encounter after encounter, so they mean a great deal more. So hiking up the CR may not be a bad idea, really. |
