Can you be a D&D geek without actually playing? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Never played D & D in my life. But got into all the Dragonlance novels about 10 years ago. Good stuff. Then read all the Forgotten Realms Drizzt books. Can you be a D & D geek without actually playing the game?

So what do you think?

Although that's less of a D&D geek and more of a Fantasy Geek.

Therefore, I state my answer as such: One can read D&D related material while not playing, and still be a nerd.

I'm also just now playing my first D&D campaign in over two years. But I've kept up with it, bought books, created characters, and planned out entire campaigns in the vain hope of someday being able to play again (and now I can! Yippee skippy!). So you absolutely can be a D&D geek without playing; I was from March of 2002 until September of this year.

10-23-04, 12:35 PM Yes. All you need is a rayon button up shirt with a Dragon or Samurai print on one side.

Bad skin and a deck of ccg cards help.
