| Taeldrin Laesrash02-12-07, 06:33 PM | I don't think so. You don't record your ranks put in it, and it doesn't even have a bonus or check to start with. |
| RellenMarn02-12-07, 06:36 PM | I would allow it as a DM, four languages if you have it as a class skill, and two if you don't. To compensate for the fact that their is no maximum rank you are exceeding. But by RAW I don't think so. |
| TheRealOrion02-12-07, 06:39 PM | Yeah, it doesn't exist. In d20 Modern, you can take "Craft: Writing" as a skill (might be "Perform: Writing" can't remember), but it's assumed to not be limited to one language. |
| JulesCARV02-12-07, 06:42 PM | You can, but by RAW, it has no effect whatsoever. You now have a +3 bonus on Speak Language checks -- and there is no such thing as a Speak Language check. Since the usual use of skill focus is to improve the effectiveness of skills that are maxed out in terms of ranks, and speak language has no rank limit, you just have to spend skill points. If you're short on skill points, get the feat Open Minded (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicFeats.html#open-minded), which gives you five extra skill points which, if spent on cross-class Speak Language, gives you 2.5 extra languages. Or, alternatively, just houserule that Skill Focus (speak language) gives you three extra languages rather than a +3 bonus on non-existent speak language checks, which is fine. |
| Davith Bothain02-12-07, 06:53 PM | Ignore. Question answered upon another thread. |
| Illithid_Tentacles02-12-07, 11:33 PM | Just echoing what's already been said. Taking Skill Focus: Speak Language, gives you a +3 to all Speak Language checks, which are nonexistant. So essentially, all you've done is waste a feat. |
| jollythehappyminotaur02-15-07, 09:06 PM | according to RAW no you cant do it because skill focus does not give you 3 skill points it gives you a plus 3 bonus to the skill. however i would ask my DM if i wanted to do it because RAW is just a base to work off of. if the dm allows it its all cool. |
