| Bacon and Eggs11-22-07, 11:45 PM | When CAD is worth more then USD for more then the length of time of a full print cycle... at least. I'm going to say the superior beer and hotter women are worth it though. |

Being rude about this topic does none of us any favours. |
| CryoSilver11-23-07, 10:40 AM | I think "crap" has eveolved to the point where it more or less = "stuff" without any negative conntation. I use "crap" to describe just about everything. Adding "piece of" connotes negative traits, but the word by itself isn't that much of an insult. Of course, I live in godless New England, where everyone is rude and impatient, so maybe things are different for me. I agree, though, that a full printing cycle must pass before prices are adjusted. How long has the CAD been worth more than the USD? I'm pretty sure it's only been a few months. The prices for the ooks are probably based on a system set up several years ago and have yet to be adjusted. Also, IMO, once the housing market in the US recovers, the USD will likewise regain value, |

I'm from NE as well, and I've found that calling someone else's stuff "crap" is usually mildly negative, but refering to your own crap is largely neutral. In the end, context decides it the most. In general, anyone refering to other peoples things as "crap" while complaining is using the word negatively. It reminds me of when I used to work in a convenience store and would card kids for smokes. If they didn't have I.D. I didn't sell; and their first response was to give me an attitude problem. Yeah, cause being nice to the guy who has what you want is obviously the wrong answer. |

NE. So true. And Bacon and Eggs, I love Canada for three things: Rush, hockey and Labbatt Blue, so I'll give your nation credit for better beer (excepting Sam Adams and Killians Irish Red). On topic, there's always the option of buying your books online, via Paypal; they'll charge about a 4% fee for converting your CAD into USD, but it's cheaper than the actual printed difference on the books, and the price on books on Amazon is usually low enough that it covers shipping. And since I know you Canadians have wild moose roaming the streets hungry for the flesh of the living, getting the book delivered to your door might be safer anyways. |
