Weapons of Legacy, page 50. The story of the Caput Mortuum is compelling and inspiring, but I think it might be inconsistent.

The Story:
- CM was created by a powerful cleric of Nerull, but never put into service.
- It was sold to the church of Wee Jas by an adventurer who found it.
- A cult of Nerull forcibly took it from an acolyte of Wee Jas.
- The cult fell apart and someone started a new one based on wielding CM.

What I don't get:
- The first ritual relies on the blessing of Wee Jas.
- The third ritual relies on destroying a cult of Nerull.

How could a cult of Nerull be based around wielding CM when, in order to harness its powers, you need the sanction of Wee Jas? And to fully unlock them, you need to destroy a cult of your own deity? Am I missing something?

The rituals aren't necessarily exactly what the wielders of old did to harness the power, just what the next person to try to use it (i.e. you) is going to have to do.

I thought the rituals related to the weapon, not the organization that owns the weapon. If it is a weapon of death, then it needs to strongly interact with the religions of the gods of death to fully be blessed. I find it ironic you have to kill a cult of death to really get the thing going. :D

But being a cult of death, they probably don't mind that much. :P
