CHA Based Spells Help [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-14-07, 10:00 PM I am new to D&D and a little confused by one thing. For Charisma and Sorcerers + Bards, if I have like 18 Charisma (for example) does the +4 bonus affect spells I know OR spells I cast per day. Also, is it exactly a +4, like I can cast +4 more spells per day, even when I would normally have only 1 spell to cast daily without the high charisma bonus or is it something totally different? I don't clearly understand. Thanks for any help!

07-15-07, 12:52 AM It affects your bonus spells. The level and amount can be found on the chart on page 8 of your Player's Handbook (often referred to around here as PHB).

07-15-07, 01:36 AM The +4 bonus affects your spells per day (as per table 1-1) and the saving throws DC of your spells as per page 177 "Saving throw Difficulty Class" .

You ability bonus may affect the effect of the spell, as per the description of the particular spell.

Yout ability bonus does not affect the number of spells known to the caster, nor does it affect the modifier to pierce spell resistance.
