I’ve been playing this game for eighteen years now, and I have finally decided Point Buy is best.

This is because I love all games, and since D&D is a game, a very special game, the immersion/acting etc, but a game none the less.

Maybe it’s my meticulous nature, but I think all games should start on an equal and equitable level.

You wouldn’t start a game of Monopoly and say, “Alright, let’s roll to see who’s lucky enough to start with some free properties.”

Or

Axis & Allies: “Let’s roll to see who starts with some extra cash and some free technologies.”

Or

Magic: the Gathering: “Let’s roll to see who starts with extra cards”

Obviously you can see where I’m going with this.

Now of course, those games are very different in aspect and approach. But the crux is the same – they affect the article (character/bank/odds/math etc) for the duration of the game/campaign.

Someone else on these boards put it best (NOM?) –

“I like a calibrated game”

Ooh, I can hear my sphincter puckering.

Anyway, how do you feel about it?
