but MY character is like CONAN and is sort of an ANTI hero and we have added three new players to our campaign ALL good aligned two are UBBER GOOD knight and a crusader.... (we started out doing a pirate campaign and now I don't know what the hell is going on) we have a bunch of knights aboard our pirate ship and we can't do ANYTHING pirate esque... we (the captin a psion, the first mate a samurai, and me the master at arms warblade) WANT TO KILL THEM but NOT really. what should we do.. and RPING isn't really an option because I (personally) believe they are metagaming and refuse to do anything we (the three of us want to do) no matter how GOOD our slightly bad stuff seems... WHAT TO DO?!

GOOD! Obviously your DM has some brains.

Ask yourself this. What would Conan do? If the party members coomplain to you: Would Conan care?

Just play nice. If you aren't having fun ask your DM if you can character swap.

Chaotic Neutral does not mean "not good". It means "good when it is in my interest.

Have you considered leaving the party? If these guys are not your friends (in the game), and are not moving toward your desired objectives, leave. If they are your friends, then perhaps you might consider that having good friends when you are not good might add "going along" to your repertoire of "self-interest" actions.

Wait; you're on a pirate ship, with a greater number of pirates, who don't like their cargo?

Did you miss this "2+2=:f:" equation? Make them walk the plank.
Refuse to sail; I doubt they can.
Dump them overboard in the middle of the night.
Have "accidents" while they are above deck, where they "fall" overboard.
Sabotage your own supplies, requiring an early port-break, then leave them on the mainland.

Or, ask your DM why he switched gears mid-game. Offer an ultimatum; new game entirely, or you hoist these non-pirates by the mast (I don't recomend this option though, as he does control the game).
But I would ask why he changed the game without telling you.

Several questions spring to mind when I read your post, the first being; what are uber good knights doing on a pirate ship? The next would be what is your character's justification for being with the uber good knights?

Saying your character is based on Conan is not really enough, you need to know why your character is with a group of people normally you would not be with. Conan was a loner and when he did group up he had his reasons and it never really lasted long after the goal was reached. You may need to go that route too. Figure out why your with this party then once that goal is reached have him move on and you make a new character that fits better with the group dynamics.

Pigs and Elephants don't mix, haven't ya heard?

I'd talk it over with the other players and/or DM if the alignment difference is too much to make a campaign run and see about new characters.

Or just drink...alot.

Given what you've told us, it does seem like your game has taken a very odd turn with a bunch of good aligned knights on a pirate ship.

Obviously your game has taken a turn from its original direction which has made you reasonably upset. If the DM and other players have no intention of going back in the original direction, then you unfortunately are the one that has to addapt. Given that you are out numbered on the issue, I would recomend changing up your own character a bit. Start him down the road to chaotic good. It may not be what you had in mind initially, but it pressents a new goal for him. If not, just remember that even if chaotic neutal characters are not good, they arn't evil either. If you really don't like the idea of changing your character's personality, you could create a new character that would fit in better. It's annoying, but it isn't the worst option.

Don't try to just kill of the party members you don't like. It probably won't end well, especialy considering the DM is leaning in their favor. Best case scenario is half the party ends up dead. Worst case scenario is you and your friends end up in a big fight over this in real life.

Speaking as a DM and a player that prefers good alignments, I can understand why your group is pushing you in that direction. Chaotic neutral characters can be a thorn in the side (to the point I even forid them to some players). I don't think they should completely rail road you, but a little nudge isn't unreasonable.

I think WE are screwed

You are screwed, but not for any of the reasons you listed.

Stop whining to the boards, talk to the DM and the other players about where your campaign is headed.

I cant say I personally understand the problem. I mean the captain of the ship has say over waht the ship does, unless you DM is a bad DM and wont let you actually act on your own, you should be able to do your pirate stuff and the knights either deal with it or leave. The DM should never force a player to do something he doesn't want to, and it seems you and your friends are in charge of the ship. So you should have power to sack another ship, pillage a town, ect. If that is what you want to do.

Conan was the archetypal Chaotic Good barbarian. He was honorable in his own fashion, and while he would do good deeds for his friends and even for strangers, he rarely stooped to outright evil ones, and NEVER breached his own code of ethics. He never killed for the sake of killing, and later in his life learned to avoid it if he had to (although he never backed down from a fight). When he became ruler of a country he espoused free speech, generosity and light taxation. While he expected people to stand on their own two feet, he stood up for those that couldn't, and remembered those that helped him.

Now consider this: your current issues are not that you want to do evil but that you want to do chaotic (pirate-y) things, and the presence of these Knights stops you. Sounds like you are not alone in this, so your issue is not with the party.

With the party themselves, you'd stick with them because although this bunch have 'morals' they have the advantage that they won't stick a knife in your in the back just for profit, and that's worth a little moralising in the adventuring trade.

I think most people are referring to the Conan of literature.

What, there's another Conan? :D

Conan could be harsh, unpredictable and bloodthirsty, and he wasn't opposed to making cash by less than ethical means (stealing and swindling), but he was by and large presented as a 'diamond in the rough' - passionate, life-loving and not without morals. Conan of literature wanders between CN/CG at the beginning of his career and becomes more NG by the end. When pressed, Conan always chose the good course over the evil one, and that makes him CG in my book.

-Firstly, stop randomly typing things in caps.

-Secondly, people have spent years attempting to educate them. Do them proud, and use proper spelling and grammar.

-Now that that is out of the way, what is the problem? While at sea, the captain's word is the law of the land. If the player who plays the captain wants things to change, all he needs to do is remind everyone how he is the captain, and the captain's word on his ship is law. That is that.

If you based him on the movie he'd be CG, if you based him on the comics and books of late then it's what ever alignment fits the story, if however you are basing your character after the Robert E. Howard stories then he'd be CN.
In the Howard stories Conan was a Womanizing, ale swilling, mercenary, who has no problem with killing if it suits his needs but isn't going to kill just for the sake of it. He also has a sense of honor the rival of any knight.
He refused to kill women (thou he has no problem with humiliating them or letting others kill them), as a thief he only would steal from other thieves or those with fat purses, but never a friend or ally. He was fiercely loyal to his friends and allies, even as a mercenary he wouldn't switch sides just because he might get more gold.

First of all, deep breath.

Added new players to campaign who are all good? Maybe the game direction has already been established?

First of all, negotiating with your fellow players is the key to an effective, enjoyable gaming experience. Say what you want in the game to them and why. Please note that "Me in charge cuz u suxxor" is not a reasonable request to make of them.

Conan is fairly honourable, and while perhaps uncompromising he was loyal and honourable and fair.

Consider what you mean by pirate-esque stuff. Is it "lets murder a bunch of innocents and force the others to take part" because that is no more reasonable than them forbidding anything pirate related outright.

Options - you can Counter-Pirate, and target other pirate ships. You can become effectively independant marines and launch raids on specific targets that can be justified to your companions (talk with your DM about creating a few such targets).

You could target supply ships as part of a war. All of these are similar to piracy except not murdering random sailors.

Power struggles are not good. So rather than trying to take control, create alternative options to wrestling over who is in charge.

It seems to me that the problem could be in your perspective. The fact that the party standard is goodness and fair play provides a perfect canvas for your char's chaotic shenanigans. You could be the "star" of the campaign! Just remember that CN is not CE. I think when most DMs become leery of CN chars in a mostly-good party, it is because the cheezeball playing the CN char is really acting in a CE fashion. Conan is a fine example of CN. He began as a thief, had to begrudgingly muster his compassion for those weaker than he (unless they were hot wenches or children), and bowed to no law. Han solo (before he got all soft from being frozen and thawed out) is another who straddles the line between CN and CG, IMO.

If the new players are trying to stop pirate-ness, why are the original members allwoing them to tag along?
