Thanks. By D&D simplicity, doubling in height octuples the weight. I say "by D&D simplicity", since a larger creature needs different biomechanics than a sized-down version. A human-size ant, for instance, would suffocate to death. So, if you assume about 150lbs as a baseline, and about 6 feet in height, a 12'+ human should weigh in the region of 1200lbs. |
| Goreg Skullcrusher11-16-05, 06:32 PM | Using the Enlarge Person spell as a precedent, I'd say your weight increases by a factor of 8 by increasing from Medium size to Large. So if your average human weighs 150 pds (or whatever weight you decide upon) your Large equivalent would be 1200 pds. Hope that helps. EDIT: Beware of Thorak, for he is quick. |
| Seeker9511-16-05, 06:52 PM | Except... These assumptions (above) are in regard to scaled enlargement. This applies to magical growth. If you are talking about a spell like enlarge then Thorak and Goreg have steered you in the right direction. But if you are talking about a really tall man... A 5'4" large-frame healthy man weighs ~150 pounds. A 6'4" large-frame healthy man weighs ~200 pounds. Only 50 pounds in wiehgt for adding a foot to the adult height. Shaq, at 7'1" is 325 pounds, and definitely "large frame". Extraordinarily tall people tend to be thinner. The tallest man ever, Robert Wadlow, was 8'11" at the time of his death, and he weighed only 439 pounds. This is lighter than he weighed at 8'8". The taller hieght probably resulted in poorer health. Since Thorak's 12' scaled to a weight of 1200lbs, I would suggest that a "tall" man of 12' would weight closer to the 900 pounds you had initially guesstimated. |
| frayedknot11-16-05, 06:55 PM | Coolio... I like that. Well a typical modern person should weigh 185lbs @ 6' which is 1480 lbs. So, I'll use that for now. Thanks for the info and replies. :] |
