| Eclipse Lutgehr04-22-05, 01:24 PM | I know there is quite a good table in the Star Wars Revised Core Rulebook on character ages from children up to venerable. I have recently sold that book through e-bay and I don't have any gaming stores near me. If that information is not copyrighted or banned by the OGL or some such, will someone post it if they have the book? Or better yet, please e-mail it to me here (metra715@yahoo.com). Thanks to anyone who may have this information for me. |
| Seeker9504-22-05, 07:49 PM | Nothing in the Star Wars book is OGL. |
| Eclipse Lutgehr04-26-05, 10:24 AM | Wonderful, so now I have to drive 40 miles out of my way just to get a good table for character age modifiers. Gotta love wizards and all of their crap. |

Note to self: suggest Wizards of the Coast begin selling as a supplemental accessory a spoon. |
| Eclipse Lutgehr04-26-05, 11:14 AM | If the only thing you need from the book is an age modifer table, make one up. I have, it just seems somehow wrong to me. I havn't been able to properly get the age modifiers right. I went by what I remembered from the book, but as I havn't ever opened that book for any role playing purposes (no one I've ever met plays that game), my memory of the table is fuzzy at best. I only remember it was a well thought out and good table to use when it was needed, which is why I would like to default to it as a tool for my campaign(s). Anybody know if it's in the Dungeon Master's Guide 2, if that book is out yet that is? |

| Eclipse Lutgehr04-26-05, 12:35 PM | Is this the kind of thing you are looking for? http://www.d20srd.org/srd/description.htm#age Unfortunately no. What I need are the modifiers to ability scores from before the character reaches adulthood. As I'm not all that great with coding, I'll just post what I made for the tables. You just start with your base ability scores and modify them according to your age going backwards. There are three age categories before "adulthood". Young adult (directly before adulthood), Adolesent (sp?) (the in-between age), and Child (the youngest you can be self-aware at). Here are my age modifiers: Young Adult: -1 to All Ability Scores. Adolesent: -2 to Str, Dex, and Con; -1 to Int, Wis, And Cha. Child: -3 to Str, Dex, and Con; -2 to Int, Wis, and Cha. Shift Size Category Down by One. Scores are cumulative. Come to think of it, that's damn close to what the chart was in the book now that I think about it. I don't know though, it just seems somehow off. i only need these scores for some children that have been afflicted with lycanthropy in a game I'm planning to run and the ability modifiers to them. It's nothing major I know, but still. *Edit: Added the size adjustment for Children. |
| Seeker9504-26-05, 02:34 PM | With those adjustments... Assuming the average human is: 10,10,10,10,10,10 (S,D,Co,I,W,Ch) the average young adult has stats of: 9,9,9,9,9,9 (S,D,Co,I,W,Ch) the average adolescent has stats of: 7,7,7,8,8,8 (S,D,Co,I,W,Ch) the average child has stats of: 4,4,4,5,5,5 (S,D,Co,I,W,Ch) Is this what you intended? |
| weasel fierce04-26-05, 04:59 PM | If you want to use adolescent and child characters, cap their max ability scores. A small child should not have more than 5-6 strength at the very most. Even that would be exceptional. |
| Lord Zeb04-26-05, 06:54 PM | How about something like this? Child -3 Str and Con, -1 Dex, Int, Wis and Cha Young Adult -1 Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis and Cha Adult no modifier Ability mods are cumulative, so a Child has -4 Str and Con, -2 to the rest Assign / Roll attributes as normal, then apply the modifiers... |

Yeah, I went over the adjustments last night, and that does sound about right. It isn't perfect, but whatever. I'll adjust the ability scores if they seem too much off. Oh yes, and at Child age you shift your size down one category, or does that seem too much? |
| MysticTraveler04-27-05, 04:47 PM | That seems pretty on. I'd also include minimum caps. I'd say 3 for all scores as a simple rule of thumb. |
| Seeker9504-27-05, 08:28 PM | I agree with dropping the size category by 1 for children. And even for adolescents in a pre-growth-hormone-beef world. |
| Eclipse Lutgehr04-28-05, 10:41 AM | Both good points, thanks guys. |
