12-06-05, 09:11 AM So the latest class article, Favored Souls with Class, has a mistake with armor proficiencies. Contrary to the text, the class isn't proficient with all types of armor, only medium and light.

I know it's a small thing, but isn't a guy like Skip Williams supposed to know what's he's writing about? And haven't there been problems with the previous Character Class articles, too? Again, it's a small thing, but still...

You're right. It is a small thing.
But it seems everyone has no difficulty making a big deal out of it.
Which might be a little more understandable if...
1. We paid for a subscription to the website;
2. These little errors affected our lives even a little bit.
3. The "big deal" was to ensure the correct info gets out, rather than "OMFG! The author made a mistake!"
4. Such "OMFG" posts avoided making grammaticalor spelling errors in the process.

Disclaimer: This rant is directed not at the thread starter specifically, but rather at the collection of threads with the same characteristics.

12-06-05, 12:40 PM Technically you are correct, however Favoured souls don't recieve any arcane spell failure when wearing heavy armour...so Skip isn't necessarily wrong.

12-06-05, 02:34 PM It's a much bigger deal with fluff errors, I think - they have occured in some of the Eberron ("Sharn Inquisitive") articles in the past, - and a few of the errors, weird rulings, and contradictions that Sage Advice has generated in previous years, as they are much harder to actually recognize. Nobody's perfect.

Though, to be honest, more editing would be nice. But I'd much rather see those man-hours go into editing books that I pay for rather than free web content that's only meant to supplement those books.

I don't think this particular error is a big deal, especially because, well, they can wear heavy armor if they want to, as it just takes a feat or a single level of fighter or the like.
