| Greasyher008-10-07, 02:55 PM | My Dm made a race called Gruul. Yes, it was stolen from MtG and he made his version of it. He decided to give us our stats however we can purchase out own race mods. I made on character a Rgr2/fght2/Barb1/WarHaulk2. He his a beast. But I want to make a back-up character. My biggest problem is I make glass cannons. Liek the War Haulk I mention befoe. He can do some serious damage. However, while raging, he only has a 15ac. I just got a ring of +2 pertection so it now will be a 17ac which is much better. SO this time around I either want to make a Tank or a seruois damage dealing caster. I have copied and past the rules below. My Dm is the the oen who recommended me to post here to see what you guys would create. Books Allowed Core + all 7 completes + PHB2 + Mini's Handbook If you can find it in those books, you can use it (except races of course). You don't need to ask. Most items from the MIC are ok, just clear it with me first. i allow traits from UA (also available in the SRD). I also allow flaws for a feat, but i assign the flaw, and trust me, it will hurt. Usually i allow Racial Paragons, but for this game i do not. Psionics do not exist anywhere in my worlds (and the book Complete Psi was never published, it doesn't exist). Level and Wealth Starting level 8. You will have lower than normal wealth since you are from a barbaric tribe that has no access to cities, or even crafters. Starting wealth is 6.3k. Spend all of it however you wish, i am placing no restriction on how much you can spend on any single item, and any 'special' materials from the DMG are OK. BUT you can own no more than 1 magic item at the start of the game. Also, i will have some special mounts available. Specifics are located within several posts on page 4 of this thread. Everyone will be given a free mount, but which will depend on certain factors (also in those posts). Assume your mount comes with a basic saddle and a single saddle bag filled with a few days worth of his favorite type of food. Anything else you want for your mount comes out of your money... Alignments: NN, NE, CN, CE Do keep in mind that your clan is your family, and you will be loyal to them. But you need not have respect for anything else outside the clan. Starting Stats All players will be given this same 32 point buy stat array, you will be free to arrange them anyway you like: 16 16 14 12 10 8 Intro to FP Since gruul are DRASTICALLy different from member to member (even within the same clan), there is no inherant set of racial traits. You will be choosing your own racial traits with a sort of point buy system known as FP. Essentially, character creation for this game is backwards. Everyone has the same stat array, but picks and chooses their own racial modifiers. This is a min/maxers dream. :D You have 32 FP to play with, this will seem rediculously overpowered compared to a standard PhB race. And yes, it's even better than some +1LA races. It's ok though, i have it under control. Size: Small size (20' move) 0FP Medium size 0FP Large (no reach) 4FP Large (10' Reach) 0FP but -1 Level Stats: These do not stack. If you try to get +6 to a stat by spending 22FP i will kill you (not kill your pc, i mean you, personally). +6 (physical stat only) 30FP +4 (physical stat only) 18FP (9FP) +2 (any) 4FP -2 (any) -3FP -4 (physical stat only) -5 FP *Note on the +4, you pay the 18 if you do not have a +6 adjustment. If you do choose a +6, then you use the 9fp. Movement: add 10' to your base speed (once only). 6FP Subtract 10' from your base speed (once only) -6FP Combat Bonuses: +1 NA (can be taken multiple times, effects stack) 6FP each DR1/- 16FP Fast Healing 1 20FP d4 claw attack 1FP (each) d6 claw 3FP (each, limit 2) 2d4 claw 6FP (each, limit 2) d4 bite 6FP d6 bite 8FP 2d4 bite 11FP Multiattack 3FP Enhanced Senses Lowlight 3FP 60' Darkvision 2FP 30' Scent 6FP 10' Tremorsense 7FP Saves: +1 racial to any general save 2FP (doesn't stack) +4 saves verse sleep 1FP (immunity 3FP) +2 saves verse poison 1FP (immunity 10FP) +2 saves verse disease 1FP (immunity 8FP) +2 saves verse illusions 1FP (immunity 10FP) +2 saves verse enchantments (immunity 10FP) Skills: +2 Racial bonus to any one skill 1FP (can be taken multiple times, it does not stack, choose new skills each time) Extra skill points like a human: 5FP Feats Feats cost 2-6FP depending on what they do. The following is a general guidline to help limit the questions i'll get from feat buyers, all bought feats require approval and final pricing by your DM. But this should give you a general idea: If the feat requires the use of a weapon or shield, you cannot buy it with FP. If they open a chain they immediately cost 6FP. If they are limited use, but otherwise really good in those situations (Track) they cost 3-5 FP. If they are nigh useless (toughness) they cost 2 FP. Classes: Favored Class: Barbarian You can spend 2FP to change your favored class to "Any" (like a human). For flavor reasons i am banning all oriental themed classes, and intelligence based casters. Monks are still ok, except consider them to be more bestial versions (i am afraid to use the word feral). The flurry and Ac bonuses come from them being intrinsically more animalistic, as such they don't require training, and are not confined to 'Lawful' behavior. Exact same crunch, but completely different fluff. Otherwise, go nuts. I can already say thanks for your ideas. I have been reading recently and you guys come up with some great stuff. That is what even got me to think of the War Haulk. |
| Greasyher008-10-07, 03:10 PM | This is the first character I made. War Haulk - He's a freaking beast. But he is a glass cannon. When he rages his AC is so low that everything hits him. Class(es) Size Level(s) Alignment Deity R2/F2/B1/W2 Large(10ft Reach) 8 (-1 lvl adjust) CE Hextor Abilities Rage Saving Throws AC STR 27 (+9) 31 (+10) FORT 14 NORM 18 DEX 14 (+2) 14 (+2) REFL 5 TOUCH 16 CON 20 (+5) 24 (+7) WILL 1 FLAT-FOOT 12 INT 10 (+0) 10 (+0) WIS 10 (+0) 10 (+0) CHA 06 (-2) 06 (-2) |
| Waterhammer08-11-07, 01:10 AM | Start here. Tell your DM, Kizzmyazz, and do your own 32 pt buy. |
| Disciple_of_Salsa08-11-07, 03:29 AM | Tank? Play a knight (PHB2). tower sheild. full plate. bastard sword. laugh. |
| Ebonarc08-11-07, 10:57 AM | Knight is out of the question since he's not allowed to be Lawful (but he's allowed to be Evil?). I suggest you play a dragon shaman, choosing one of the Chaotic Evil dragons for your totem. Other than that, I don't know what to say. Those houserules made for confusing reading. My brain hurts. |
| Greasyher008-11-07, 12:39 PM | Start here. Tell your DM, Kizzmyazz, and do your own 32 pt buy. I actually like DM's idea. I can probably get around the alignment problem. He is pretty open with things. This is pasicly an Evil campaign however, he wil change the alignment requirement if that is the only thing that will stop me from playing a class. I check out the Knight thanks. Yeah, there was a guy that claimed the Dragon Shaman. That was going to be my first option. |
