Phobos 12-13-06, 08:06 PM	I was told to use a program, no names mentioned atm, to help me with my characters. I did, but also do my characters by hand. I have a second level dwarven monk. My problem is. I cant figure out how this program is calculating a few stat values and I am hoping someone might show me what I am missing. I am guessing I am wrong and I am forgetting something. Ok, hope this is enough to figure it out: Monk, Level 2, Dwarf STR 18, DEX 15, CON 14(after racial +2) INT 10, WIS 15, and CHA 10(after racial -2) Improved Initiative is the only feat selected besides class bonuses (Stunning Fist, Deflect Arrows). No armor worn, monk's outfit is all. The question comes with 2 stats, Jump and Climb. I think it should be 6 for Jump, 2 ranks plus 4 on STR. The program says 0, as it is applying an unknown -6 misc modifier. The other is Ride. I am thinking 2 from DEX. The program says -3, applying an unknown -5 misc modifier. Help anyone?
Bluntpencil2001 12-13-06, 08:08 PM	The problem with Ride may be a lack of a saddle. Jump I'm not sure about.
Chrono Nexus 12-13-06, 08:13 PM	What is the program? Weight carried can add a cumulative penalty to climb and swim based on encumbrance. Check your gear.
Phobos 12-13-06, 08:45 PM	OK, I looked at my gear, and I am holding less than 32 lbs, all gear included. I think I found the Jump issue. My dwarven speed 20' incurs a hefty -6 penalty to jump. A bit steep, but I found it on PHB 77 As for Ride, I see now we take a -5 for "ill suited" mounts or riding bare back, which is OK, but this is being applied globally without knowledge of my mount, or if its saddled. In fact, my character at this point doesn't even own a mount and its showing a -5 tacked on. :(
Waterhammer 12-13-06, 09:12 PM	Try filling in "warpony" as your mount, to see what the program does. Just a thought.
