hey all...
Like some of you out there (I'd imagine), I like to listen to certain songs to help me "get into character" on my way to game.
So, here's the situation. I'm currently playing a Paladin (the variant from Complete Champion where you get bonus feats instead of spellcasting) and I'm at a complete loss as to what song might fit.
My character is a memeber of an order of knights that serves the king of her home country. She's real big on tradition (her dad and brother were knights, her granddad was a knight, etc). I've been playing her as kinda the "strong, silent type" (I think I've said about five sentences in character and I've been playing the character for over a month).
Any help I can get would be appreciated :)

Holy diver...but not the original Dio version...go for the Killswitch engage version...that gets me in an evil slaying mood everytime.

on a similar note (pun) a song that really gets me in a DM'ing mood is "The Game" by Motorhead. it was a theme song for WWE's wrestler triple H

it's perfect check em out.

I guess it depends on what music you like to listen to, anyway. Still, whenever I hear of paladins, think of that piece by Eurythmics - "I saved the world today". A few other pieces - notably by U2 and Cranberries - come to mind. Strangely enough, I've always thought that Tina Turner's "We don't need another hero" also works for the less spotlight-obsessed paladins.

I know my playlist for my paladin (because I'm that cool) has a lot of classical music. It's got a lot of strong female arias from opera (more the vengeance/wrath sort than the love type), policemen's and lawyer's themes from Gilbert and Sullivan (a little farcical, but fun), and a lot of ecclesiastical works. I'm very fond of the Kyrie of Mozart's Requiem, his Requiem Aeternum, and his Vesperae Solennes de Confessore.

On the more modern front, I like "Defying Gravity" from Wicked. I love playing Queen's "Another one bites the dust" in battle mode. "Into the Fire" from the Scarlet Pimpernel is a great song about courage and going up against the odds and the like. Also Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" is a pretty good song. as is Rufus Wainwright's "Hallelujah."

I also can't explain it, but I ADORE "The King of Wishful Thinking" from the Pretty Woman soundtrack. It makes no sense, but it does for my character.

My paladin's a bit more the sort of duty bound contemplative though, but fairly hardcore. If yours is more the strong silent sort, I'd maybe go with largely classical, instrumental or choral works.

Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" is a good multipurpose dramatic song.

Chrono Cross OST - The dragoons. Basically Glenn's theme , it seems very warrior/paladin like to me

I've always loved Dust in the Wind for a non-evil necromancer or a cleric of Jergal/Kelemvor/Wee Jas. Darn good song anyway, and simply brilliant for the right character.

I'm not a fan of mixing modern-sounding music (rock, metal, etc) and medieval characters/worlds, so I'd have to say aim for something like the music of the Church in the middle ages, or at least something classical with the whole divine feel to it.

EDIT: An exception is some anime/game music I like. The .hack//SIGN OST helps me a little.

Yeah, I used that one for a Barbarian/Frenzied Berserker I was running the once. :)
I also used to use Rob Van Dam's enterance music ("One of a Kind" by Breaking Point) for a Rogue/Factorum I was playing in a Gestalt campagain.

And best BBEG music EVER: "No Chance" Vince MacMahon's enterance music.
