| CaptStormheart12-09-07, 12:32 PM | Hey everybody, My post is about theme songs for your characters. Here's what I did: My character is named "Stalking Wolf." He is a Ftr3/Sct4 human. He is in the military. I have built him up to be the true Scout in the army he should be. Yet, if necessary he could go out on his own for weeks on end and still survive. Here's the scenario: He is sneaking up on a campsite of some enemies. Listens to their general talk and the night sounds, so as to make sure they do not hear him (M.S. roll +17). Then comes dashing out from behind the leader, grabs his forhead, and dispatches him before the others have time to react. The song I used for this is from a band called Battlelore (www.battlelore.net) from their albumn titled Sword's Song. The song is called Dragonslayer. Check it out if you can and tell me if you think I chose the right theme song for Stalking Wolf. Also, does anybody else have a theme song for their characters? Cheers!:duel: |
| Matthais77712-09-07, 12:34 PM | I do. My "Ero Mage" Cypher was captured, raped, and tortured by a demon for 14 years from when he was about 5 years old. I used the song "Ties that Bind" from Ater Bridge for his them song. Then, my goofy swashbuckler friend of fortune has the song "Your only human" by Billy Joel for his theme song. |
| ADHadh12-09-07, 01:01 PM | Theme songs for player characters? I'd rather find something for the BBEG. Although I'm more of a genera/environmental BGMs fan than those dedicated to specific characters/monsters/etc. (Like Metallica's Call of Ktulu from S&M). |
| Seeker9512-09-07, 02:24 PM | For my own characters, the theme song would most likely be either an instrumental polka (for my cheesy characters), or Depeche Mode's St. Jarna (for my more serious characters). For most environmental music (when I DM), the soundtrack to Conan the Barbarian serves almost all needs. |
| GeeBee12-09-07, 02:32 PM | I have a (CG) Sorcerer who uses "Freedom or Fire" by Fear Factory. |
| CryoSilver12-09-07, 02:34 PM | I'd say my warblade's theme song is "Destroy Everything" by Hatebreed |
| VulcanStormwrath12-09-07, 02:57 PM | My favorite Paladin Geriant Lightbringer- "Hero of the Day by Metallica" especially after single handedly defeating 23 orc barbarians on the front steps of temple with women and children inside, while the party fought the BBEG across town. Had -8HP when it was all done, (He has the Diehard Feat) Warmage- Arturo Swordbreaker - "Bang Bang" by Rammstein. |
| Bloodsoul12-09-07, 05:20 PM | You mean "Feuer Frei"? Can't think of anything for my own characters at the moment, but I strongly believe that Nerull's themesong should be "Hell" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. |
| Avatar of Kokusho12-10-07, 07:06 AM | I do have to say that I have been bored enough to think of this. Shalandra: "Symphony of Destruction" by Megadeth. My husband's character, Silver: "Outlaw Torn"- Metallica Shalin: "Stricken"- Disturbed My husband's other high-level guy: "Master of Puppets" |
| celestialkin12-10-07, 07:16 AM | I enjoy "The Elven Path" by Nightwish for many of my Elf characters. I am currently looking for a matching song for my favorite character of all time, which keeps popping up every so often (much to the dismay of some party members. :D). There is no real way of describing this character, so I am having a hard time expressing him in song. However, theme songs for specific characters are not likely to ever be used in game, so none of this really matters. |
| Temmogen12-10-07, 07:24 AM | I have a Cleric with the Domains of Time and Travel. Currently his theme song is "Time is on my Side" by the Rolling Stones. |
| gullas12-10-07, 08:14 AM | for my kobold it was and has always been , Journey-Don't stop believin:D |
| Staver12-10-07, 08:25 AM | For my Minotaur Barbarian, now level 28: Godsmack's "I Stand Alone". -Staver :D |
| Kiioro12-10-07, 11:58 AM | Tiefling Scout - NIN's "Closer", X Japan's "Standing Sex" Human Scout - Utada Hikaru's "Kremlin Dusk", Kyo's "Une Derniere Danse" Human Rogue/Spellthief - HIM's "Soul On Fire", Panteon Rococo's "Toloache Pa Mi Negra" Human Black Flame Zealot - Sonata Arctica's "Full Moon", Naio Ssaion "The Mirror" |
| blodgett12-10-07, 01:19 PM | Let's see, Gundar my dwarven battlerager - probably the Three Stooges theme song would be most appropriate, but he wouldn't get it. Hammerhand, my d20 modern character of the moment, "Have Drink on Me" by AC/DC. My drow, Vethril, a fire-obssessed, psychotic killer, hmm... there are so many good songs to choose from ... the best would probably be "St. Anger" ... for now ... |
| russdm12-10-07, 02:59 PM | My drow, Vethril, a fire-obssessed, psychotic killer, hmm... there are so many good songs to choose from ... the best would probably be "St. Anger" ... for now ... What about "Burning down the house" by Talking Heads? The ulimate Pyromanic song... I think "Behind Blue Eyes" by Who (the Who) would work for evil chars/npcs. I think the Conan music works great for Barbarian or Fighter types. Possibly for other kinds as well. The ultimate, best, perfect Druid/Barbarian/Ranger song: "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf. |
| Malchius12-10-07, 03:18 PM | for my kobold it was and has always been , Journey-Don't stop believin:D That's a great song, sounds a bit comical if it was sung by your Kobold. I think Estranged by Guns n Roses would go well with an outcast with it's theme of separation. |
| Awesome_Dude12-10-07, 03:27 PM | Anything with Public Enemy. |
| Malchius12-10-07, 03:46 PM | Wonderboy by Tenacious D for any Gish/Psywarrior/ToB character. Fairy Feller's Master Stroke by Queen for any Pixie/fairy character's, with some of My Fairy King here and there. Ogre Battle(also by Queen) for Ogre War Hulks. March of The Black Queen(also by Queen) for any Royal *****es |
| Ruleroftheblind12-11-07, 07:12 AM | A player of mine used to play a halfling Dread Pirate by the name of Dread Pirate Roberts. Whenever anyone in the game said anything about pirates in a negative way, Dread Pirate Roberts would climb atop the nearest table/crate/rock/mound/etc. and declare, "You don't even know what it means to be a pirate!" Then one of his crew members, Earl, would pull out a sitar and begin to play. -slow- I can gut a helpless fishin' boat, sink it with my bare hands! I wake up muddy and go to bed bloody 'cause I'm a pirate man.... -much faster- I can brave the nastiest weather. (Weather!) Even if it's 80 below. (Below!) My pa was an elephant, but that's irrelevant. My ma was an Eskimo. I eat rabbits' heads for breakfast. (Breakfast!) With beaver butt on the side. (The side!) My mind's magnificent and my body no different. I'm full of pirate pride! Yo-ho! Yo-ho! Yo-ho! Loot their corpse, cut their eyes out with my knife. Yo-ho! Yo-ho! Yo-ho! One thing's for sure, there's nothing like a pirate life! I'm badder than the baddest trapper! (Trapper!) I make love to women to 10 feet tall. (Good lord!) I've got a chest of wonder and balls of thunder. I can break right through a wall. I love the sound of metal, (Metal!) Smashing on an enemy's head. (Ka-chink!) Sometimes they scamper Sometimes they whimper But they always end up dead. (Aria-like interlude by Earl) I've always wanted to be somebody Who didn't get pushed around. Now that I'm a pirate, I'm the meanest guy around. (Roberts interrupts) Second meanest! The smell of a sweet sea morning Is as sweet as brandy wine. And the brain of a dire shark Tastes like rum and bark What a yummy life! Yo-ho! Yo-hooo! YOOoooooooooo-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" -end- This song is not an original. However, it is an original parody. My buddy Joe is credited with writing the parody for his character Dread Pirate Roberts. This song was derived from the Trapper's Song which can be found in Matt Stone and Trey Parker's under-appreciated college movie/musical, "Cannibal! The Musical!" |
| blodgett12-11-07, 10:46 AM | What about "Burning down the house" by Talking Heads? The ulimate Pyromanic song... Why stop with the house? Burn the the neighbors house, then the street, then the town .... And she has slight anger management issues ... :D |
| Rogue Shadows12-11-07, 11:05 AM | Hmm. Given her thiefy lifestyle, I doubt Iliira (CG Human-raised dark elf Female Rogue 5/Thief-Acrobat 3) would have a theme song, being that she goes for the quiet. Though if she did, she'd be partial to "Big Machine" by the Goo Goo Dolls. I like to imagine that as she was thiefing, though, the soundtrack to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl would be playing as appropirate. |
| BarivusTheFearless12-11-07, 12:26 PM | L7 Tiefling SONG: "Look Into My Eyes" |
| Wondergecko12-11-07, 12:33 PM | 'Fire It Up' by Black Label Society for my CE Human Sorcerer, who really likes fire. I mean, he really likes fire... |

| theblackpiece12-11-07, 01:27 PM | i had this one minotaur who kicked butt like none other. like only level 5 and he could board ships and massacre all the crew. so im thinking... Bodies by Drowning pool |
| Seraphex12-11-07, 01:35 PM | PCs: Saephir (Psion): Hell - Disturbed ("Burning as I bring you HELL!!") A bit... mental... destructive... and VERY sadistic (She uses powers like Death Urge, Control Body and the head exploding ALOT) she needs SERIOUS counseling... Aika (Barbarian): Run For The Hills - Iron Maiden Mort (Rogue): Creeping Death - Metallica (Normally he's stealthy... This is just for when he openly slaughters those baddies.) Dracaziel (Favored Soul Of Bahamut): Memento Mori - Kamelot NPCs: Ringir (Dwarven Wizard): Kakashi's Theme - Naruto Mumnir (Dwarven Ranger): Lumberjack's Song - Monty Python Havoc (Human Sorcerer): The Tunnel - Metroid 2 Metal (Stemage) |
| Silverclaw12-11-07, 03:35 PM | For a warforged character i can recomend "iron man" (Black Sabbath) And my favorite for a mean melee warrior wielding a silvered warhammer... Maxwell´s Silver Hammer (http://maxwells-silver-hammer.freeonlinegames.com/)(Beatles) |
| Edymnion12-11-07, 05:56 PM | My warforged Paladin, Crucible, kicks ass to "Steel Meets Steel" by Hammerfall. Back in 1095, when the call to arms came We had the red cross sown on Sent to save the holy land and crush the infidels With strength form above STEEL MEETS STEEL On towards victory we march, the guiding star Leads us to the battlefield There, the heathens were subdued, and in the end We forced them all to yield or die STEEL MEETS STEEL In July '99, the Holy City was stormed and won Jerusalem was freed, we thank the Lord for our glory We, the Templars have survived by honor and pride And the blessing of the sword The quest of the war, forever sung To the sound of steel meets steel STEEL MEETS STEEL |
| mathew9912-11-07, 07:05 PM | My bard sings "Pitiful" by Weird Al to inspire courage and competance, you know to taunt the enemies. |
| Renark von Bek12-11-07, 07:17 PM | I had a bard whose theme song was "a prudent thief" by the brobdingnagian bards. |
| Kaleran127712-11-07, 07:45 PM | Back in the old days of 1st Ed, I had a Druid, called Thenix Red-Oak, and his theme song unquestioningly was "Songs from the Wood" by Jethro Tull.:D I had a Half Ogre(also 1st Ed) who had TWF and a special matched pair of bastard swords called "Thunder" & "Lightning", which 3X per day could be crossed together and they would throw an 8th level caster's "call lightning" spell- His name: Skull-Crusher. His theme song "I am the storm" by Blue Oyster Cult. Also had another theme song"Dare to be stupid" by Weird Al, but not to many NPC's sang this in his presence... In 3.5 Ed, my current character, a Human Fighter:6/Order of the Bow Initiate:7 has a good theme song; "Let the bodies hit the floor"! |
| Guardian112-11-07, 08:35 PM | My old WoW RPG human Paladin/Argent Dawn Templar: "Helm's Deep"-LOTR:The Two Towers soundtrack. Has that nice feel of desperate heroics to it, especially given my paladin's penchant for charging headfirst into dangerous situations that no one else even stood a chance at, based purely on that characters' history as a former soldier in a war. For you people out there familiar with WoW, WoW RPG, or the Warcraft games, that would be the Third War. My old Druid/Wolflord: "Rivendell"-LOTR:The Two Towers soundtrack. Good feel of nature and elves, doubly appropriate since the character was an elf. Nothing freakier to fight than an elf who can cast divine spells and transform himself and all of his friends, if they want to, into legendary wolves. |
| Guderian12-12-07, 12:18 AM | For a Necromancer or similar: "Dance of Death" by Iron Maiden For a neutral tank PC: Terminator Theme song For a devil or any powerful LE: "Sympathy for the Devil" by Rolling Stones For a Paladin/ LG character: "Holy Thunderforce" by Rhapsody of Fire For a CG character: The Pink Panther theme song |
