| happycows02-04-05, 07:02 AM | Nebin, Redgar, Mailee, Tordek, & etc. All in the 3.5 PHB (they are also in 3.0). What kind of classes and prestige classes do they have? Are there stories on them? What skills and feats do they possess? |
| Draco Strang02-04-05, 07:19 AM | Well, actually they're called "Iconic Characters", not classic characters. Also yes, there are stats for them beyond 1st level. If you have the D&D Adventure module Bastion of Broken Souls, Lidda, Tordek, Mialee and Jozan are all statted at 18th level. Lemme tell you, that little halfling is a monster by the time she's that powerful...geez oh man, check her stats and equipment. Also, in the 3.0 splatbook Enemies and Allies (which is out of print I think, but I'm sure your bookstore could order one) has stats for each of the iconic characters in the PHB at every 5th level. So, Krusk, Regdar, Alahandra, Vadania, and all the rest of the gang have their stats. Finally, if you look around, there were a bunch of pulp novels written under the pen name T.H. Lain that dealt with these guys. Each of them are pretty easy reads, about 160 pages each, and deal with various 4-group adventure parties that are comprised of the iconic characters. They rotate in and out each book, so each character is represented at least once, but the books mainly seem to focus on Regdar and Lidda. There ya go...hope it helps. |
| Emrick Blackthorn02-04-05, 09:43 AM | Now here's a list of classic characters. They were used in the early days of D&D and AD&D. They did cameos on the cartoon and there was even a D&D toy line (http://www.toyarchive.com/DungeonsDragonsFigures.html) that used them as their base and even more to follow. Mercion, Figgen, Peralay, Elkhorn, Ringlerun and Strongheart Fox Fingers, Zargash, Zarak, Skylla, Kelek, Raven and Warduke |
| Draco Strang02-04-05, 11:53 AM | Warduke? You have got to be kidding me. |
| Mootilator02-04-05, 12:15 PM | Hey! Warduke is all strong! His stats were in Dungeon not long ago. To be honest about it, he was what everyone in my 1st ed. group had in mind when they wanted to play an anti-Paladin years ago. I'd say he's classic, but I'm no authority on the matter. To be precise, he's probably a classic NPC, but a character nonetheless. Oh, and... MMmmm. Lidda. :P |
| Draco Strang02-04-05, 01:41 PM | Ok, first off, Lidda's about 1/3rd your size. That has to constitute a crime somewhere in Waterdeep. Secondly, I'm not bagging on Warduke for anything except his name. As I said.....Warduke...... |
| Nytmare02-04-05, 01:56 PM | A name like Draco Strang and he's cutting on Warduke? |
| Draco Strang02-04-05, 03:12 PM | A name like Draco Strang and he's cutting on Warduke? OUch.....that was harsh. I hope you're in jest, because that brilliant alternate spelling of Nightmare to "Nytmare" isn't exactly the cutting edge in fantasy monikers either, my friend. "Oh, I added a Y to my name, I'm unique and mysterious now." If you say so. Seriously, if you must know, the Draco came from my old Ultima Online character way, way back in the day. Strang is a combination of the old "Sturm and Drang" (translates to Storm and Stress) argument posed by a German philosopher. I picked up on it from the Star Wars universe. Smuggler Talon Karrde had a pair of pet Vornskrs named Sturm and Drang, and I was sorta rolled the two together. Go ahead, I'll take your apology anytime.... |
| Mootilator02-04-05, 03:35 PM | Ok, first off, Lidda's about 1/3rd your size. That has to constitute a crime somewhere in Waterdeep. *sniff* Sometimes...sometimes words can hurt.... :weep: Just because I'm a human doesn't mean I should be denied sweet halfling love. Don't fence me in! :dancin:  |
| Nytmare02-04-05, 04:17 PM | Oh, I added a Y to my name, I'm unique and mysterious now. Hey man, back when I was 8 and came up with this name it WAS unique and mysterious. Also it was the only way I could fit 'nightmare' onto a vanity license plate. |
| Wildonion02-04-05, 04:29 PM | *sniff* Sometimes...sometimes words can hurt.... :weep: Just because I'm a human doesn't mean I should be denied sweet halfling love. Don't fence me in! :dancin:  Thats just wrong! Go for an elf! They are only about a foot shorter! *Grins* Though I can't lame you for think lidda is hot.... |
| Mootilator02-04-05, 05:15 PM | Thats just wrong! Go for an elf! They are only about a foot shorter! *Grins* Though I can't lame you for think lidda is hot.... ;) Now there's an honest lad. Although a drow woman is nothing to shake a stick at. Err... |
| The Shaman02-04-05, 05:20 PM | Just because I'm a human doesn't mean I should be denied sweet halfling love. Don't fence me in!:  |

| Nuntius12802-04-05, 06:12 PM | In defense of halfling women, to quote Chris Parnell from some episode of saturday Night live: "They make me feel BIG." :dancin: |

| Mootilator02-04-05, 07:20 PM | In defense of halfling women, to quote Chris Parnell from some episode of saturday Night live: "They make me feel BIG." :dancin: *ahem* That...uh, that has, uh...nothing to do with my affection for Lidda, and I'll than you to never bring it up again. I don't need anything to make me feel big. I, uh, I just think she's purdy. Yeah. She's purdy. That's all it is. Errm...hey! What's that over there!? ;) |
| Darth K'Trava02-04-05, 07:25 PM | Boy..... we've gone from iconic characters to the mature forum....in only a few posts........ :twitch: |
| Mootilator02-04-05, 07:44 PM | I'm seeking help. :D |

| Solaris02-04-05, 11:00 PM | heheh. STRONGHEART(TM) Good Paladin and WARDUKE(TM) Evil Fighter. Those were the days. |
| Emrick Blackthorn02-05-05, 12:30 AM | You mean "The Shady Dragon Inn" (http://www.rpgunited.com/product/default/tsr9100.html)? I used to have that book too, but it's gone now. I was lucky enough to get it in PDF form. I looked at the link anyway and saw a slight mistake on it. They have the producer being WotC and if you look at the cover you can clearly see TSR printed on it. |

| CapnSwashbuckler02-05-05, 08:23 PM | Boy..... we've gone from iconic characters to the mature forum....in only a few posts........ :twitch: "Mature" convos are usually anything but. |
| Solaris02-05-05, 08:45 PM | "Mature" convos are usually anything but. *applause* |
| Nytmare02-05-05, 10:08 PM | I used to have that book too, but it's gone now. I was lucky enough to get it in PDF form. I looked at the link anyway and saw a slight mistake on it. They have the producer being WotC and if you look at the cover you can clearly see TSR printed on it. Since WOTC bought TSR wouldn't that change the "producer" even though it was no longer being made? |
| happycows02-06-05, 07:23 PM | I am currently playing 3.5 and I want to play some iconic characters. Like Gimble the bard who travels the land by his wits (read him in the alignment description and looked at the Bard picture he seems cool). Nebin the illusionist. The cleric doesn't seem so bad and Redgar is cool. I'll pick up some of those books and read it sometime. Hopefully I'll see some obvious feats like improved sunder or something... hard to tell if someone has improved toughness etc. |
| Darth K'Trava02-06-05, 08:28 PM | Regdar is abt the most developed of the bunch. He's got the most "screen time" in various scenarios. After that, maybe Hennet and Nebin who go great together. Jozan who seems to go ga-ga when he sees a hot fighting chick (Alhandra) and abt can't concentrate on what he's doing as a result. Devis is basically the womanizer type. Mialee the studious, gets tipsy after a light drink, mage. The rest are so-so in their fleshing-out characterizations. |
| Darth K'Trava02-06-05, 08:28 PM | "Mature" convos are usually anything but. Ain't that the truth! :D |
