I was wondering what you all thought of cityscape and dungeonscape. Worth the money? I have goten a ton of use out of stormwrack and sandstorm. Where on a scale of 1-10 do you rate these books? Thanks for the input!
CantripN 03-30-07, 12:02 PM	Frankly, I hadn't had the will nor the time and patience to read them fully yet. The Alternate Class Features from Dungeonscape are very nice, though. As are some of those out of the Cityscape web enhancement (not in the book). Factotum (Chameleon base class) seems bland, yet potent.
Kadasbrass 03-30-07, 12:17 PM	Cityscape sort of dropped the ball. Of all the enviromental books it was the worse. It has useful information, but a good chuck of it is reprinted from other sources (thou they did add in new information with the reprinted stuff, could be argued that it is nice to have it all in one place...). Cityscape wasn't even done in the same style as the other environmental books. It doesn't cover urban dungeons like it was expected too. Even one of the designers agreed that it was more like "Heros of Battle" then the Environment books. Can it be a useful book? Yes. Is it worth the price? That will vary from person to person. Personally I think the Waterdeep Sourcebook was better Cityscape if just from examples of how detail a city, the use of ubran dungeons, and how to make use of political factions in a city.

On a more serious note, I'm more fond of Dungeonscape than Cityscape, but that's mostly because I own it. I've been told that Cityscape has a little too much fluff and not enough crunch that DMs can use. Dungeonscape is awesome. BTW, check the Cityscape Web Enhancement. If those things were in the book, they alone would make it worthwhile.

So far it looks like cityscape wont be worth much time, but dungeonscape is. Pretty much a fair assesment?
