| Green_Cloaked_Sorcerer10-08-05, 09:58 PM | couldn't wizards have come up with some decent commercials to advertise the game in? maybe show the books and cool art work atleast or some flashy computer graphics? I mean the movie so far is really crappy atleast they could have done somthing right. GCS |
| Jagyr Ebonwood10-08-05, 10:21 PM | The movie isn't crappy, it's cheesy :D Like most SciFi movies and about 75% of D&D players. And I like the adverts. Very Adult-Swimmy. Uhoh, the cleric just died. They're screwed. Makes sense though...how long would they allow the party to have 5 PCs when the standard is 4? Ooh, he just said "bastard." Can he do that? I'm enjoying the movie, if only for its cheesiness :D |
| Realmsrat10-08-05, 10:26 PM | I like the movie. The graphics are subpar but overall it is by far superior to the first film and is an excellent movie overall. Also while the commercials are simple at least they're not all "WOOOOH YEAH, DND TO THE XTREEEEEM." |
| Green_Cloaked_Sorcerer10-08-05, 10:26 PM | no its not cheesy at all, its crappy, cheesy is what the movie "The Gamers" is by Dead Gentalmen, this is crappy, big difference. It would be cheesy if they were trying to make it like D&D and it sucked, this is just another bad fantasy movie they slapped the D&D label on. BTW wizards, next time just hire Dead Gentalmen Productions to make D&D 3 atleast it will be a D&D movie, not crap. GCS |

| Seeker9510-09-05, 10:00 AM | I liked the movie and I liked the commercials. The movie was normal, made-for-tv, fantasy-genre fare. The commercials were subtle, linked to the movie, and avoided the "I'm a geek, so I should be playing D&D" approach of the past. |
| Jagyr Ebonwood10-09-05, 12:24 PM | The commercials were subtle, linked to the movie... By linked, you mean how the Cleric died right after (or was it before?) the commercial that said "Rule 2: Don't let the cleric die.", right? :P |
| primemover00310-09-05, 05:39 PM | The Commercials were genius... they were totally Adult Swim, and look how popular that is. I loved the music in em... |
| Green_Cloaked_Sorcerer10-09-05, 11:50 PM | All you who compair this to Adult Swim, whom I have seen many, must be the same people who think ATHF is a hilarious show, when really its not and most of Adult Swims commercials aren't all that great either. Why is Adult Swim popular if its not funny you ask yourselfs, for the same reason Napoleon Dynomite became popular, the world is filled with stupid people, who have bad senses of humor. GCS |
| Realmsrat10-09-05, 11:59 PM | Having a sense of humor different from yours does not make someone stupid and there is no need to insult people because of what they like to watch. |
| PEBKAC10-10-05, 09:55 AM | My favorite commercial for D&D wasn’t an actual commercial for D&D. I believe it was a commercial for Maytag, or some other washing machine. The commercial is about the quintessential geek that meets a supermodel, they fall in love and get married and have a kid. The tag line for the commercial for the washing machine and dryer is something along the lines of “Brains meets Beauty.” However during one of the scenes with the couple, is a shot of the geeks D&D books, the PHB and DMG if I remember correctly. I also liked the commercials that aired during the movie. I think they did a good job of showcasing the game without running the risk of putting any parents off that might be watching with their kids. |

Seconded...we had several gamers over to watch/make fun of the movie on Saturday. And while the movie was better than we expected and so not nearly as made fun off...we all loved the commercials. They were an excellent way to show the fun of D&D without any flash or even a lot of stereotyping. And I so loved the Rule #2: Don't let the Cleric die...followed immediately by a dead cleric in the movie. ~Fireheart |
