I know another thread was shut down recently for commercial recruiting. This is in no way a product that will be used to make money on and is just to compile NPC's for use in a DM's Campaign. The PDF will be GIVEN to all who contribute. I hope this is enough to keep the topic from being banned because I think many could find it usefull.

Now that I have stated that :D

Greetings,

I am in the process of starting an on-line community project dealing with various RPG games. The reason I am doing this is two fold. I would like to have the completed product which I could never do alone and I would like to offer all of the contributors the same product. The finished product would be sent to all contributors in PDF format.

The project is to compile a list of Heroes and Villains to be used in a persons own gaming group. To make a large listing I am opening this up to the web communities in hopes of being able to produce an extensive list and to tap into the creativity that flows from the communities. There are some guidelines but I do not feel they are unreasonable. There will be no money made from these ventures and all contributors will receive a copy. A copy will not be made available to the general public and will never be for sale.

Below are the requirements for any submission for the project.

1. The character must be an original creation of yours. Please no copycat characters of copyrighted products. This also means that the characters history cannot be entwined with another that is copyrighted. (i.e. there can be no illegitimate sons of Drizzt or apprentices of Darth Vader. There will be no exceptions made unless you are the person with ownership of the copyrighted material. So unless you are R.A. Salvatore then please do not list Drizzt in your characters information)
2. The character must be submitted with all of the required sections completed.
3. The character will be subject to review to assure game mechanics are not taken liberty with.
4. An original character sketch or art piece needs to be sent with your submission. This can be in B&W or color as you see fit. The submission can be denied for inappropriate content or very poor quality. The name of the artist must be supplied so that he/she can be given credit for it within the product.
5. I will also need your name so that you could be credited for your original character.
6. If you are under 18 years of age I ask that you consult with your parent or guardian before contacting me with a submission. Submissions of minors can only be accepted with the consent of said parent or guardian. Your honesty and cooperation in this regard is greatly appreciated.

I am aware that very few people are artistically inclined. There are however many resources available to find an artist to do a sketch. The investment in an original piece of art should not exceed the cost of a typical hardbound product. This would allow you to have a copy of the art of your favorite character as well as a PDF copy of the total product.

I do reserve the right to refuse an entry if an agreement on characters powers or stats, in regards to game mechanics, cannot be reached or if the art is obviously copyrighted material or of such poor quality that it is deemed as an attempt to get a product without putting forth an effort in doing your share.

I am not affiliated with any artist or artists associations but do have an extensive list of resources that a person could choose from. These lists are not intended as a requirement for publishing but merely as a resource if you are unfamiliar with any sources of your own.

Anyone who would like to offer their help in reviewing characters for proper game mechanics can contact me. Your help would be very much appreciated since I have not played any recent games and am not intimately familiar with all rules of the game. Please state your experience in the chosen game system when you contact me. All who contribute will be given credit for their help in the front of the book (PDF). You will receive a copy, even if you didn’t send a submission, if you were chosen to and did help in the compiling and rule testing of the characters.

If you are an artist and would like to volunteer your time to the project then please feel free to contact me. I can put you in contact with someone needing your assistance or could discuss other art needs (like cover) that the project may need. As above if you are chosen to and do volunteer artistic work you will receive a copy of the product as well.

It is asked, but not required, that you supply a low, medium and high level variant of each submission. One art piece can cover the three phases easily enough. This way your character can be used whether he/she is needed in a low, mid or high level campaign. Again one piece of art is sufficient for all three levels unless you wish to provide progressive level pictures as well. If you only want to submit one version of your character then that is fine as well.

For D&D definition purposes I will refer to low as levels 1-5, Mid as levels 6-10 and high as levels 11 and up.

I will of course supply entries as well. For D&D alone I will have at least 6 different characters with original art for each. I will provide Low, Medium and High level entries for each. That is 18 character entries for sure. A person could choose to do only one entry and that would be fine. Multiple entries would be even better. If there are enough entries the product will be divided into three different PDF’s. One for each level category. All would be supplied to contributors and would be broken into three different parts only to keep the size of the files down.

Since the PM boxes are so small I ask that you contact me through my email. dungeonsolutions@hotmail.com

Once printed Office Depot charges roughly 3 to 5 dollars to spiral bound something with plastic clear front and black plastic back. Then you would have a durable and usable copy. Of course this is up to you. I am lucky enough to have a spiral binding machine at home for me and my wife’s projects.

I am planning to do this in several gaming genres. Obviously D&D and Star Wars by WoTC. I will also be doing other genres including horror, cyber punk style and super heroes. I will not mention those here but I can of course give you the information for what gaming systems in email.

If you are interested and would like an example of what format the characters will be in I can send you a pdf of one of the characters I will be submitting. This will let you know what information I would be looking for.

I hope this project is embraced by the community which would give us a good resource for our gaming needs.

You may feel free to ask questions here or in email. As for the final format it will be decided latter but a sample format for the sample character can be emailed to you.

Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from many of you soon.
